Since installing 3.1.1 approximately once a day NPVR dies during playback.

The following is from the event log:

Faulting application nextpvr.exe, version 1.0.0.0, stamp 52574d3f, faulting module msvcr100_clr0400.dll, version 10.0.30319.1, stamp 4ba1dbf2, debug? 0, fault address 0x00001457.

There's nothing unusual in the NPVR logs.

Windows is up to date.

Any ides anyone?

First thing I would recommend is disable any plugins. Does this happen when you are doing something in particular or is the machine idle at the time?

It happens during playback of recorded tv.

I have just unticked all of the plugins, and now NPVR won't start up.

"Index was out of range. Must be non negative and less than the size of the collection"

I can't find a parameter called "index" in the config.xml

I edited the config to put the one plugin back to true and that allowed npvr to start, then I have re-ticked the "TV Guide" through to "Exit" plugins. No other ones ever were enabled.

I have "repaired" the .NET 4 components via windows add and remove programs, and I haven't had the problem for 3 days.

This is still happening, but not as often, every 2 to 7 days.

Is no one else getting this?

I haven't seen this myself, but I wonder if it might have something to do with the permissions that NPVR is running under.

I'm not aware of any known issues that would account for this. Have you tried switching out decoders in case one of those is causing the crash?

I must admit I don't know how permissions work in windows. I have three ways of starting it, 1) the green button on my MS remote control, 2) a desktop icon, 3) from the N icon on the toolbar.
I will have to note which way I start it and see if the crashes are linked to that.

I can give that a try too, thanks.
