Just curious I have a handful of channels that I'm able to watch using HDHR's QuickTV app, and I can scan them and add them into NextPVR, but when I try to actually watch them in NextPVR it just shows a black screen and never loads.

Any ideas why? My signal strength is marginal on some of these channels. Does the NextPVR software require a higher signal strength to view channels than QuickTV?

No. If QuickTV can view the channel, then NextPVR should be able to too.

If you do a recording on these channels, do you end up with a zero byte file, or something bigger? If the latter, can you play the file in NextPVR and see a picture, or how about playing the file in another player like VLC.

Size is greater than 0. I'm not able to play the file in either NextPVR or VLC or Windows Media Player.

Can you make a small sample recording from that channel available for me to download?

Here is a recording just over a minute in length:

Size is really small which seems suspicious.

Browse to the HDHR's web address and take a look at the tuner details while a program is recording. My guess is that you'll find those channels have the Copy-Once flag set. NPVR can't record those, but WMC can. Sad I have a few channels like that via Suddenlink. SyFy and USA are a couple that come to mind.

This channel is just an over the air broadcast received via antenna (not cable or dish). Would channels like that still have copy-once flag set? I didn't think they could, but I will check when I get home.

Make sure that the application is set to "Other: ATSC/QAM" (recommended for now) or "NextPVR" in the HDHomeRun Setup program.

I'd try whurlston's suggestion above. If that doesn't work, we'll probably need to capture a 1 minute full ts, so I can try the stream here in my signal generator.

No luck. I tried both settings. Also I didn't see anything about a copy-once flag in the tuner status:

Tuner 0 Status

Virtual Channel none
Frequency 557.000 MHz
Program Number 4

Modulation Lock 8vsb
Signal Strength 100% (44.9 dBmV)
Signal Quality 53% (17.1 dB)
Symbol Quality 100%

Streaming Rate 5.001 Mbps
Resource Lock none
