Hey guys!

I'm not running a TV tuner at this time - hopefully very soon I'll have the money to pick one up.
NextPVR client ver installed on PC 3.1.1
I was able to install the software on my pc and get the app on my Samsung UN55F8000. However when signing in as devloper it wouldn't allow me to enter the pass as well for some reason but using just the username worked for me to get access to the app enter the IP address etc.

I configured the app on the pc/client side to access the folders where I have content, and rebooted pc.
loaded up the app on the TV and it says connecting to server then loading content (or programs, I forget exact wording) then just hangs.

I'm sure I'm missing something simple but can't figure out what it might be. Any assistance would be appreciated. Yes I forwarded the port in my router and have it set for that particular PC as well (PC is static ip'd on lan side).

Really excited to eventually get this working.

Thanks!

try that patch srhutch mentioned and report back if that works, i never actually tested it without any tuners etc configured. the samsung app only works with recordings, it wont playback anything under "Videos" (during testing this just wasnt usable)

Applied the dll patch, restarted the service. I'll load up the app from the TV when I get home.

So loading the app won't show files that I already have on the PC and the client reporting to those directories?

Just a quick background on what I have from the outside. I'm only subscribed to pure basic fios tv. What will a tuner get or do for me more aside from just recording the shows? Ultimately I'm looking to run everything via the samsung TV so I can still use the pc during the day rdping into while those at home can still browse and watch what they want.

BTW - eventhough I haven't set it all up to work yet, I love the idea and concept! GREAT job on the app!

the setup you want is
- Plex, this will be for all your videos you already have (movies, tv shows etc)
- NextPVR, this will be for live tv and recordings

Plex is really great at managing your movies/tv shows/streaming services etc. theres no way I would be able to make something this great by myself with the time I have by myself, and there wouldnt be any point. its really great, runs on so many different clients, has the server / client architecture, and its a business (but mostly free, there is plexpass which i suggest people subscribe to, only a few dollars each month) so continuously developed/worked on. however it cant do live tv/recordings, and i dont see it doing this any time soon, if ever.

nextpvr is brilliant at recordings and live tv, it can run server/client easily, and has a webapi to easily make clients for it. its constantly worked on by a solo developer (which is amazing in it self), super stable. it doesnt have a good transcoding option (sub has never really needed it), which does effect some playback (part of the reason why the videos stuff doesnt work that great) and for some reason samsung doesnt like using the file stream method for large video files (1080p mkvs i tried just wouldnt work wel, not sure if this is samsung or nextpvr). but with plex, you dont really need to use this. switching apps on the samsung is quick, and i use the following apps all the time

- netflix
- flixster
- plex
- nextpvr

if there was no plex i would invest more time in the video part, but since theres a brilliant option already there, i havent give it much focus.

That is so funny you said that! I've been running Plex for quite some time and was glad to see you made an app to work with Samsung models....XBMC should take a page out of your book...or maybe not, you seem to have it right haha!

I wish Plex had more addons/channel support like xbmc. My work sucks for blocking everything (even certain work related sites haha) so rdping is a nice thing to have and also allow the at home peeps to watch what they want too.

So I replaced the dll file and then it wanted me to upgrade my version of nextpvr (weird) so I upgraded it back to what it was 2.71.279 but still stuck at "Loading Current Programs".

The new file NShared.dll is still there at 578kb

is it failing totally because of no tv tuner card?

it might be failing due to no tuner, ill try and test it out tonight with a nextpvr install with no tuner.

it obviously shouldnt fail, but could be a bug. easy to fix.

or is it failing because the db will be empty
try using vidimport to bring your files into nextpvr (depends on format thought they still may not work im not sure how revens app handles files that are not .ts)

All my files on my pc are either .mkv, .avi, and few are mp4

I have them 2 different drives
TV
Movies

I could be mistaken on my thoughts of what NextPVR could/would do. I can ultimately I wanted to eliminate my plex and use NextPVR for viewing my already recorded/"grabbed" files and also for recording and viewing live TV once I got a tuner.
