I'm confused about BDA drivers, MCE version, etc.

My requirements are:

1. the ability to capture in HD, as in 16x9 at at least 720 vertical
2. The only capture source will be either s-video or component, and audio needs to be rca red and white. I just need to hook into the back of my iptv box.

What is the minimum card that will do these things on NextPVR? As in exact part number. The hardware list given on this site states the Hauppauge 1250MCE. Well I can't find no MCE, but plenty of 1250's, like this

Thanks

PS does anyone else find it less than intelligent that vBulletin has one section called My Profile, that has some editable fields and just shows you your signature, and then you have to know to find Forum Actions, General Settings to actually edit it?

The only analog HD capture device from component are the Hauppauge HDPVR family You don't need one with SPDIF support for 5:1 but you will need one with an IR blaster for the box.

Given these requirements:

The HVR-1250 is a digital/analog capture device. In your case, you're wanting to capture from a set top box, so you'll be using analog. Analog will only give you standard definition NTSC, ie 720x480, and would capture via either svideo or composite. You can plug an antenna into this device, and capture OTA ATSC in high def etc, but analog will always be standard def.

If you wanted to be able to capture high definition video from your set top box, you'd need a more specialist type of device, like a Hauppauge HDPVR/HDPVR2/Colossus, which would allow you to capture HD video over component input.

Thanks, this is all very helpful. I'll take a look at the HDPVR/HDPVR2/Colossus!
