Hi guys, well the hard disk got filled and npvr froze ad had to be killed. I freed some space on the hard drive, but now even after reboots the recording service won't start (see attached):

Is there any way to fix this without having to reinstall and re-set up everything, all channels, and all recordings?

thanks!

Zip and post your NRecord.log. There might be something in it.

Nothing new is in it since the crashing started, but you can see at the end where the disk full message was given.

First check the data folder for hidden sql lite journal files and delete them if they exist. If that doesn't help rename npvr.db3 to something like npvr.db3.old and see if it starts. If it does zip and upload your database and I will see if I can fix it.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Is the 'data' folder "C:\Users\Public\NPVR" if so I don't see any .db-journal files. Renaming npvr.db3 to npvr.db3.old still results in the crash:

  C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txt

searching indicates it's caused by a stack overflow, which would agree with the error from the cmd window above.

if I save the .db3 file and uninstall, reinstall, and copy the old .db3 file back, will that copy all of the old channels and recordings back as well?

You might need this Hotfix: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2640103

The kb article suggests you need to contact an MS representative for the hotfix but you can download it by going to http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix/KBHo...um=2640103

hmm, installed that and it didn't fix it. So I uninstalled npvr and re-installed it, and it's still crashing, both the nrecord service and the npvr application. I reinstalled the tunder drivers and still no luck. So, if a re-installation of NPVR didn't fix the crash, and other programs aren't crashing, any other ideas of how to get to the bottom of this?

check your config.xml. the last time my hard drive got filled up, my config.xml was corrupted which cause NRecord to crash on startup.

that was it! it was 0 bytes. It probably would make sense to incorporate a sanity check on this file when the service loads, right now I'm happy to be running again, thank you.
