It's based on the fairly new “Web-api” and provide a native NextPVR UI, much like the NMT.
Plugins in general are supported but not guaranteed to work.

The app is available for LG Smart TVs (2012/2013/2014?) and newer Samsung TV/BDs with Smart Hub (D-models not supported, sorry).

In the future I hope to make the app available (for free) in LG and Samsung stores but currently it has to be installed using a process designed for developers to test their apps on real hardware.
Sadly LG-BDs does not support this option (yet?) so currently the LG-version is only available for TVs.
Samsung E/F and probably G-models TVs and BDs should work. D-models will install the app but won't work.

If your device is a Samsung you should be able to do the installation using the instructions found in the linked zip. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9995...amsung.zip
If you are familiar with “login as develop” and know what you're doing here's the IP 76.76.102.42, but I advice everybody to download the zip and read the instructions.

If your device is a LG TV you will have to PM me to get the installation files due to some restrictions LG built into the system.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9995...n%20LG.pdf

Everybody is free to try it with no obligations. At this stage the app is fairly usable but has some flaws and also some features are missing.

Supported functions:
Navigating the full NextPVR UI including your installed plugins.
Recorded TV - play, pause, seek
Live TV - play, pause, now and next mini guide
Videos - play, pause, seek
Music - play, pause, seek
Resume on play
Comskip

Improvements I hope to implement:
Subtitles

Known issues:
No seeking in Live TV

Known Samsung F-models specific issues related to seeking:
Resume not very reliable.
The first seek is usually off
Player will sometimes completely ignore a seek.
The player sometimes freezes after a seek.

Feedback is welcome but please don't expect all bugs being fixed in an instant. Even if it's fun, work, toddlers and house demand their attention too.

I've seen the Samsung version of this client in action, and it's seriously cool, so I'd advise Samsung and LG users to give it a go.

It's like Martin's XNEWA, giving the complete NextPVR UI on your device.

stustunz, thanks for the feedback.

Well I should have mentioned that the skipping isn't NextPVR standard.
FW/RW skips only 10 secs and I'm guessing that several subsequent presses won't work so well.

If you are to navigate 20 min you would use the right/left navigation. It's a progressive skip that starts out at 15 secs and ends up adding 30 mins after some keypresses.
I know that's not everybody's taste but I like it and considering the limitations of the Samsung and LG players it's a workable solution.

Yeah I don't really like it but I'm not going to moan about that

When I do the progressive skip it shows that it's meant to skip 20 minutes but it doesn't it only skips 2ish minutes
Using the left right arrows

Right, as mentioned in my initial post skipping with the Samsung player isn't perfect. The first jump is usually off but then it should jump correctly within ~1 sec or so. Sometimes it won't jump at all but I haven't figured out why yet.
I have a BD-F6500 as the only option for my testing and there might be differences between models and also the files being played.
Anyway, the unreliable skipping on Samsung devices is a prioritized issue that I'm trying to solve.

A trick you can try is to press [play] one time right after you have started playing a recording. It will do a jump –1 sec (intended for lipsync). That should get rid of the first “bad jump”.

Thanks, that may be useful information. It seems like your player makes a few requests for the stream before it decides where to jump. With seek hinting on it gets confused.

I will add an option to turn off seek hinting in the next version.
