StartScreenSaver bat running at wrong time

As the title says my start/stop screen saver bat files are running at the wrong time

Seems to run after i start freds samsung app (StopScreenSaver.bat)
then after i shutdown the app/bluray player the (StartScreenSaver.bat) runs
I have this turning off the tv on the server which is the lounge TV ,(not good waf )

It doesnt show in the logs as far as i can see.


Not sure where to go from here any ideas?

This is a bit of a tough one. You probably need to try being less smart by trying to stuff like this in these batch files.

Freds web client interacts with a session of NextPVR.exe for it's UI and navigating around etc, and this type of activity is enough to keep the screen saver from kicking in. Unfortunately when he starts streaming, it's talking to the webserver in NRecord.exe. His UI session of NextPVR.exe has no visibility of this, and eventually after x minutes decides no one is using UI, so allows the screen saver to kick in.

Pretty much the only options are disabling screen saver, or having Fred periodically send some fake keypress to keep the UI session awake while he's streaming from the web server. The NextPVR.exe session cant do this automatically, because it has no idea the user is interacting with the web server (and in most scenarios the user interacting with the web server should have no effect on the screen saver).

The screen saver isn't kicking in on the main tv session. The screen saver is kicking in on client session. ie, each session of NextPVR.exe has it's own screen saver, which shows after a period of inactivity. All this typically means, is that session starts showing a mainly black screen with NextPVR logo. This problem is only happening because you tried to get smart and do stuff in these batch files, but hadn't considered that each session of NextPVR has it's own screen saver.

Perhaps what's needed is the ability to have an alternate config.xml file for instances of NextPVR.exe created by remote clients, referenced by the MAC address of the client maybe? for example, config-000D1F3C459A.xml; the user would start by copying the main config.xml, but then the user could make various changes needed for the specific client: stustunz could disable the screensaver, I could edit the menu options, etc. By default all instances of NextPVR.exe would use the default config.xml, unless an alternate one with matching MAC address is found at startup.

I have had it working fine for about a year
worked great because you could just walk away and it sorted itself out
Bugger is all i can say!!!!

Im guessing there is no way of having the batch file run if only the main server goes into screen saver

For the web client I ended up turning of the screen saver because NextPVR sends a lot of blank screens with no image and it was causing a lot of confusion. Even with the NMT NextPVR would sleep (if I wasn't detecting network traffic) so I guess I am used to it and decided to keep my backend all the time.

-1 for johnsonx42's option if you did anything do it like you have custom MVP and NMT settings for the MAC.

I wouldn't want to go down that path. It'd complicate support etc.

This version doesn't run the screen saver batch files for web client. I think you're the only person using these batch files, so probably a fairly safe change.
