Sheik Yerbouti Wrote:Great Work, Fred! I bought a new TV, the Samsung UE40F8000 and installed your app. A few things I noticed that I haven't read in the thread:
- I cannot controle the TV's volume (it's working fine in other apps);
- The picture slide show seems to place the pictures over the background semi transparent, so the pictures aren't looking very good, I suppose this is something for sub;

Chris

I have the same problem with volume control on a Samsung UN32F5500. Everything else works well, but I can't change the volume and the MUTE button doesn't work.

Thanks,

After a little more testing, the MUTE button acts like the RETURN button and moves you backwards in the menus.

Only had a limited amount of time to test over the weekend, but the quick playing around LiveTV kicked over fine. I need to do some more testing, but found that I couldn't change channels in liveTV and I could not play recordings from a network drive. But the channel I picked in LiveTV was nice and smooth and played well.

Great you got it working on your LG TV.

Channel change is not implemented yet, you will need to go back to guide to change channel for now.

Not able to play from network is probably a Windows security issue. The account that runs the NextPVR service must have read rigths on the network share.

Thanks, I'll add that to the list of bugs.

I guess all Samsung TVs suffer from this problem. The volume bug has high priority but my time is very limited at the moment.

No rush, I appreciate the work you have already done.

Just an observation about skipping. I'd guess all my .ts recordings on two PC's both dvb-t and dvb-s don't skip at all well.
They skip forward much larger than requested amounts (e.g. 45 minutes instead of 5) and after a point will skip no further (around the 60 minute mark, but varies). Skipping backwards rarely works.

What I have been doing up till now is running VideoRedo v2 quick stream fix and this sorts out the problem. V2 can read but not write .ts files, so they end up as .mpg files and skip fine. I downloaded the current version of VRD+ as a trial version and it can write .ts files - but they skip just as badly as the source .ts file. So it would appear to be the .ts rather than .mpg that causes the skipping problem.
All three (original off air, QSF .ts and QSF mpg skip fine on an NMT.

I realise you have little or no control over the Samsung player, so the above is for info or any thoughts about it.

Other than the above the app is working very well.

What model player(year) are you using
My 2012 player I have to have skip helper turned off
On the 2013 I have to have it on but skipping goes to crap after a while if you restart the file then skip again at same point it skips ok again.

Thanks for the post, It's a 2013 TV - UE40F5500 and I've just tried the helper on and off and sadly, it didn't seem to make much, if any difference to the skipping.

Yeah the 2012 although slower in menus is way better playing back ts recordings , Samsung have screwed something up on the new devices. Their advice is transcode everything but that just isn't a option for what we want.

Samsung TV UN55ES7100

version 0.19.1

Setup screen. Any changes made to this screen are lost once the TV is powered off. As long as the TV remains on, any changes made are kept.

Playback. Resume always starts back at the beginning of the file. Seek Hinting Option: On. Using the the left or right arrow key will seek to double what the current elapsed time + X. So if elapsed time is 2 minutes then right arrow will jump 4 minutes + X. If elapsed time is 10 minutes then right arrow will jump 20 minutes + X. Have no idea what X is but it seems to be less than 1 minute. Sink Hinting Option: OFF. Right and left arrow appears to skip the correct amount of time - 0.15, 0.30, 1.00, 3.00, 5.00. I would like to have a 2:00 minute option between the 1 and 3. My recordings are via OTA so I do not get 'perfect' files all the time. Windy conditions, airplane(s) flying by, can cause degradation and/or temporary loss of signal (1 to 2 seconds). Most players expect a 'perfect' signal and tolerance thresholds are either not existent or quit low and will stop working. What ever player you are using is in the medium range. Your player handles minor problems okay. When a medium or severe spot is hit the video freezes and audio stop. It appears that your player attempts to get/seek past the bad spot. At a certain point your player finds a good signal again and resumes playback. However only the audio resumes. The video does not. The last 'good' video frame is still showing on the TV. Pause and stop buttons are no longer functional. Have to use Exit and or Return which exits your app. Not sure if you (or Sub) have any control over error handling in these situations or it's all automatic. It would be nice if Resume worked. Or stop, pause buttons would work. Looking for a little better handling of this type of 'error' but I have no idea if you have any software control.
