version 0.19.1

Setup screen. Any changes made to this screen are lost once the TV is powered off. As long as the TV remains on, any changes made are kept.

Thanks for the feedback.

Try version 0.211 from the app loader, it should remember your settings.

scJohn Wrote:Playback. Resume always starts back at the beginning of the file. Seek Hinting Option: On. Using the the left or right arrow key will seek to double what the current elapsed time + X. So if elapsed time is 2 minutes then right arrow will jump 4 minutes + X. If elapsed time is 10 minutes then right arrow will jump 20 minutes + X. Have no idea what X is but it seems to be less than 1 minute. Sink Hinting Option: OFF. Right and left arrow appears to skip the correct amount of time - 0.15, 0.30, 1.00, 3.00, 5.00. I would like to have a 2:00 minute option between the 1 and 3. My recordings are via OTA so I do not get 'perfect' files all the time. Windy conditions, airplane(s) flying by, can cause degradation and/or temporary loss of signal (1 to 2 seconds). Most players expect a 'perfect' signal and tolerance thresholds are either not existent or quit low and will stop working. What ever player you are using is in the medium range. Your player handles minor problems okay. When a medium or severe spot is hit the video freezes and audio stop. It appears that your player attempts to get/seek past the bad spot. At a certain point your player finds a good signal again and resumes playback. However only the audio resumes. The video does not. The last 'good' video frame is still showing on the TV. Pause and stop buttons are no longer functional. Have to use Exit and or Return which exits your app. Not sure if you (or Sub) have any control over error handling in these situations or it's all automatic. It would be nice if Resume worked. Or stop, pause buttons would work. Looking for a little better handling of this type of 'error' but I have no idea if you have any software control.

Resume and skipping in general is not working well ATM on Samsung devices, but are high up on the bug list. I think your TV works best with seek hinting turned off while F-models need it to get accurate skipping.

My app is relying on the inbuilt player of the device.
The Samsung player, or players actually since they behave differently on different models, is not that easy to deal with. I doubt it is possible to control the player in such way it can recover from freezes etc.
But I will have a look at to why the stop or return buttons aren't working after a freeze.

I'm a new BD-FM59C owner and would like to try this app. So, please sir Mr Fred, could you send me the instructions for installing on the FM59C. I tried the standard install and got the same security warning as johnson and jhanisco.

Thanks in advance.

Hi stustunz,
It's on the list among some other bugs and quirks people have reported.
But I just don't have the time right now since I'm still tied up in the house renovation and a new addition to the family is due to arrive in October.
The missis seem to prioritize a working bathroom over your 4 min skip, sorry .

Jokes aside, I do plan to implement the 4 min skip and also fix the remote issues (volume and mute buttons on TV) as soon as I find the time.

Thanks Fred for the workaround. Works pretty well; I'm just figuring out the controls by pushing buttons. Maybe I should re-read the thread. Smile

Too bad this FM-59 is such a pain. Mine was a refurb for $39 after a $20 rebate. Too good a deal not to try out.

Fred

Update

I finally got upgraded to 3.2.9 and this app does work on the new Samsung 2014 Model H5500 Series.

I have tested with your app and all looks good except no comskip and skip forward is really wacky, example if I have a show that is 1.02 hour long and when I start a show after a few seconds I skip ahead and it will jump to 1.01 almost to the end of the show.

I'm able to play everything in my video Libraries even those that are located on my NAS this works great as well.

If you need logs let me know which ones you need and I will be happy to posted them.

I found if I hit the right arrow by the enter button I get a +15, +30, +1 minute and hit enter it works just fine, to go back the same thing hit the left arrow by the enter key will do -15, -30 and so on and that works just fine.

I was hitting the fast forward button that was jumping to almost the end of the recording, also I cannot get the volume button to work but I've read the post and that seems to be the issue with most of Samsung Devices.

Once comskip start working I will not really need to skip forward as comskip works really well for me. I only need this to work with all my recordings as Live TV has always been too slow changing channels anyway even on a full client system its a long lag.

Another thing that is weird I see the wireless icon in the lower right corner of my screen even I'm only using wired network, I think that should be removed as if you don't know if you set it up on wired or wireless then maybe you should not be doing a client. Big Grin
