EPG info sent to XBMC

Is there a way to get the picture url/path sent/pushed to XBMC's EPG database?

As I understand NextPVR's add-on is "feeding" XBMC's EPG database with some info but not the URL/path of the pictures it downloads. Or could I use a XMLTV file directly in XBMC? I think Tvheadend has this future.

I don't know the ins and outs of it, but don't you "push" the EPG data to XBMC's epg database? A xmltv file? Wouldn't it be possible to supply the path to the pictures and it would show up in the epg.

I don't know if it can be a URL but you do set it in pvrclient-nextpvr.cpp

Yeah, it looks like that field might do it.

We don't typically have artwork for shows in the EPG unless we've already recorded an episode of that show though, so NextPVR would very rarely be able to supply any. It's a pity they don't have a mechanism that allows PVR client's to demand load it when required.

That is actually where I got it from, from NextPVR's epg and recordings (when you click on one show it has the info with the shows picture), impressed me, and that is a feature that would have a big "wife" acceptance in XBMC.

When I am on to it, I read somewhere that it is a similar function to forward recordings pictures in XBMC. If these two "hurdles" could be fixed we (XBMC users) would have close to a perfect PVR setup. Thanks anyway for a great program,

This is the demand loading I was referring to. We don't have any artwork initially or know where it is, and the app only goes out to the internet attempt to find the artwork for the show when you click the 'ok' button to view the details of a show in NextPVR.

Don't get nextpvr TV Guide confused with the TV Listing plugin as TV Listing does give you more info but XBMC don't use TV Listing so you will not see it in XBMC. Not sure if that is the case but wanted to point it out as I use TV Listing on my nextpvr client because it does give you more info.

Ahh thanks sub,

Now it is all getting clearer, never as easy as I think. )-: But, how difficult is it to implement? Could I change the broadcast.strIconPath = ""? Or is it more involved then that? The reason is that if I use EPG center or webgrab plus and pass the XMLTV file to NextPVR it could work, the first one would be able to download the icon file to a folder and add a folder path, webgrab plus I think would add a URL path but I am not sure if this would work in XBMC.

And as for the recordings, is it possible to download the artwork to the same folder and if no artwork take a screen shot of the movie and pass that as a strIconPath?

Or am I in too deep water? I am sure you understand I am not to familiar with the ins and outs/programing, but working hard to learn. :-)

I don't use the plugin, I just mean the artwok/logo of a show that comes up when you click on the guide listings or a recorded show. XBMC should be able to show the "logo"/art work of a show if the path is supplied, seen it done but have not found the answer yet, guess it is with tvheadend where you can pass a xml file for each channel directly in to XBMC. How, still to find out? :-)
