hello everyone. i'm a complete noob here so please be patient with me and please help me understand.

initially i bought the gbox mx2 so i could cut the cord and stream live tv. went on with my roku device for about 2 months before purchasing my gbox mx2. i may have been completely nieve about the situation and what all it needed in order to get the live tv function to work, but i went ahead and jumped on it anyways.

i've gone through the multiple ways of configuring the next pvr client in my xbmc application and doing it like everyone else has done. my issue is, that even though i've enabled the pvr client, i'm still getting messages saying "connection lost". i've gone through the other half of the setup process and tried to configure my firewall to accept the pvr client host names and ports, but still nothing has changed. i don't know what the hell i'm doing wrong, but i've been battling this freaking thing for the past week. honestly, i'm about at my wits end spending unnecessary hours trying to get it to work and sending it back.

can someone please walk me through this step by step and hold my hand along the way? lol i know i'm asking a lot, but i just want to get this right. plus i need to look like i knew what it was the whole time to my wife. Big Grin

thanks guys.

Slow down as my advice? Wink Don't panic Cool

But be prepared that there are some limitations between xbmc/Kodi Front-End and PVR Back-End integration still currently. The restrictions, to my current knowledge, are not limited to the Back-Ends but to the implementation of the PVR Front-End within xbmc/Kodi.

But those guys and girls over at xbmc/Kodi have been very busy with other stuff!

I believe you have missed some essentials in your post?

You talk about connection lost warnings in xbmc?

Firstly you have posted this in the general NextPVR thread not xbmc thread on this forum? I can move it there if you would like?

NextPVR Forum - XBMC thread

It may get more attention there.

If you are panicking because of Wife factor totally understand if I get you right that you promised to progress a system and agreed some money towards it but still cannot get it to work but your Wife is wanting to know why it doesn't do what you thought it could? Big Grin

Give me a nod and I think I can move thread.

In meantime what anyone will really want to look at is LOGS, LOGS, LOGS!

I don't think you have given versions of xbmc and NextPVR running etc?

What mx2 firmware and xbmc version are you running on the box? There were some versions that did not properly support pvr plugins. Also, do you have a strong WiFi, or better yet, wired connection? That error usually suggests the WiFi or connection has dropped, or you have the incorrect IP set in the npvr plugin.

haha thanks for the quick responses. honestly i wasn't expecting such a fast turn around with suggestions.

and to answer your questions, yes. i am getting lost connection messages inside the XBMC program.

i haven't posted my questions or concerns elsewhere, but if you think it might help, then by all means. just need this thing fixed! lol

my G-Box MX2 is currently running Android 4.2.2

my XBMC is currently running version 13.2 Gotham

the NextPVR that was installed already is version 1.9.8

what logs are you wanting to see? where do i pull them from?

oh i almost forgot. i am running my G-Box on a wired connection so that shouldn't be an issue.

Do you have nextpvr running on a pc with tuner cards installed ?
then this feeds the xbmc the live tv which you then see on the mx2 or whatever is running xbmc

verify static ips of all machines and in the xbmc plugin config - check network connectivity outside xbmc to the server machine - maybe shut off Win firewall for testing

Thread moved to xbmc specific. I did say I thought it was better here!

I have done a few installations and it has always been the firewall that has caused any problems, first turn that of temporary and try. Verify that the right IP address is added to the plugin and if, check the XBMC's log, on the Android it should be in the userdata folder, at one of the following locations (depending on your device):

/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/cache/temp/xbmc.log
/sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/cache/temp/xbmc.log
/data/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/cache/temp/xbmc.log ,

it updates every time you start XBMC.

I assume that NextPVR is working as it should on your windows installation and that in the "client tab" in settings the "allow remote access' is ticked!

Wait, i should have seen it earlier, have you got a backend installed on a windows machine where you are running NextPVR? If not XBMC has not got any TV capabilities and relies on a backend, like the NextPVR program to feed it with TV. An android has no such capabilities to my knowledge and relies on a "Server".

What tuner do you have? You can feed live tv directly from a Silicon Dust HDHR without having to install a PVR backend, and there is even and addon that will give you guide data. However being able to do recording is a big plus for me, not everyone wants that much.
