Newby - Hauppage 2250 cannot record 2 channels

Part of the problem seems to be the time lag between setting something to record then trying to watch another channel.
Is it normal for that to take several minutes to be able to start watching another channel after you start recording?

No, there shouldn't be any significant delay. Maybe a couple of seconds.

So now it is working. When I go to status, under settings, I can see tuner 1 recording a show and tuner 2 recording a different show.
What is weird is that it is sporadic. Sometimes it says "cannot find available capture device" when I try to record the second show, but if I try it again after a few minutes, it will then start to record the 2nd show.
Does this sound like a faulty tuner?

On a few occasion (5-6 time a year) I have one tuner stopping for no apparent reason. A power off, wait about a minute and a power on will bring the 2250 back to life.
It didn't happen for months now. I am up to date with WinTV software and drivers.

you may need to disable windows media center or any other software that has the ability to use the tuner
