When I try to playback recordings they either say they've failed, or look to be okay until you click on the recording to start watching it and I get...

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

How can I correct this please? If I click the Continue button it just closes and reopens the dialog box for this error. I have to use Windows Task Manager to abort the application.

Try playing one of the recordings, then zip and post npvr.log.

Windows Home Server search reports no such file exists. Where should it be located please?

[edit]Found wiki that says it's in the datafiles folder. I don't have that either. The only folders created by the installation are:-

C:\Program Files\NPVR
and
C:\Program Files\NPVR\Other

In addition...

NPVR Settings menu says that the Direct X Runtime is missing and it's using software rendering instead. I've looked up this error message on this website and downloaded the executable and installed it. Installation said it was successful but still get the error message from NPVR. So rebooted the server and still I get this error message from NPVR. Any ideas on this issue too please?

NPVR LOGS
NPVR logs pretty much everything it does in several log files. The default log location is in the logs directory under the npvr data directory:
Windows Vista & Windows 7: C:\users\public\npvr\logs
Windows XP: C:\documents and settings\all users\application data\npvr\logs

that could be the cause of the direct x thing also, think they have some media stuff missing (bad memory but sound familiar)

So where do we go from here please? I've installed the Direct X runtime and that reported a successful installation. ??? Uninstall and Reinstall NPVR perhaps?
