I am having problems with some recurring recordings. I double click in the TV Guide and tell it to record all recordings on all channels or on this channel and when I look at the TV Guide it is not red. Sometimes if I go to the recurring recording list there will actually be two sets of recurring recordings for this show and still will not record. Quick record works fine. Examples of shows that I cannot seem to set up a recurring recording are NCIS: New Orleans, Mysteries of Laura and Burn Notice. Most recurring recordings work fine.

first, in 3.2.9 and prior, when you ask for a recurring recording, it MUST be able to record the specific episode you selected when you requested the recurring recording; if there's a conflict that prevents it from scheduling that exact episode (even if other episodes could be recorded), the entire request will fail with no warning. this limitation/bug/whatever has been corrected for the next release.

second, if you have the "Avoid Duplicates" check box checked (the default), NPVR will not record shows it has already scheduled OR which you have already recorded and deleted within the past 90 days. further, I believe there is also logic that says if you have a show set to record, and then cancel the recording, that show gets added to the recently deleted list so that it doesn't get scheduled again automatically (the assumption being that you canceled the recording because you don't want it; otherwise there'd be no way to resolve recording conflicts, and canceled shows would come back every night after the EPG update); I admit I'm less familiar with this bit of logic simply because I rarely cancel recordings.

third, there's another little bug or limitation where if you happen to pick an episode a week from now and schedule a recurring recording, any episodes of that show between now and then won't be recorded. in the next release, recurring recordings will look for all scheduled showings, regardless of date.

one-off recordings (Quick Record/Record Once) bypass those rules... they're done on a "you asked for it, you got it" basis, unless of course there's a conflict in which case it notifies you.

finally, while it's been awhile since we've seen such a bug, every now and then we see a case where a show is in fact properly set to record, yet for some reason doesn't show up red in the TV guide. all such known bugs have been squashed in the past, but I would never say it's impossible for such a thing to happen again.

as Reddwarf says however, they key here is to see your logs. first try scheduling one or several of those shows that you're having problems with, then .zip and post your NPVR.LOG; it will show all the steps the program took to schedule your recordings. See the second post of the "Getting Started" sticky at the top of the support forum for the location of the log files (also linked in my signature).

Unchecked "Avoid Duplicates and that fixed the problem.
