Well this is my first post in ages, which speaks to how great this program is.

I'm considering switching from mc2xml to Schedules Direct but I'm not getting any indicator of a "NEW" episode in my guide which is throwing off my recording.

Do I make changes to the INI file and if so what?

or what do I do grab all info from the schedules direct file?

Thanks

Schedules Direct has "new" or "First Run" info in the data which is stored in the database and used for the "Record NEW episodes on this channel" recurring type. However it does not append any indicator to the show title, so if you have recurring rules that look for something like "MyShowTitle*" where the asterisk indicates a new show, those won't work with SD.

FWIW, NextPVR also reads the "new" indicator from MC2XML data so "Record NEW episodes" recordings work fine with MC2XML as well. Also, during 3.3.x testing I switched from MC2XML to Schedules Direct, and noted an inconsistency in the way the episode "unique-id" is presented which made NPVR start to re-record episodes that already had been recorded using the MC2XML data; sub kindly added an adjustment so now it sees the slightly different formats as equivalent and all works as it should.
