The patch I posted earlier definitely fixed the problem shown in IanSpringfield's log.

It's not clear to me exactly what you problem is. Please describe it as clearly as possible, and post the logs showing the problem occurring.

thank sub,

The problem occurs on a channel change, especially if done in rapidly. I'm fairly certain at this point that it is the Pace cable box that is the problem. I've set the cable box to output 720p only with L-PCM audio only. The cable box sometimes takes 5 seconds or more to change channels and start displaying the new channel video. (Had a talk with the Cogeco tech and couldn't find a solution there).

Basically, on the channel change that is slow, Npvr will start playing the video (both livetv and recordings) in a stuttering fashion or fail all together. A restart of the recording service and Npvr is required when this happens.

I'm hoping there is a solution on the Npvr side as there is no possible way to address the problem with the cogeco box.

Perhaps the "Wait longer before starting capture" can be increased, or included a setting that allows the user to increase the time until the problem goes away??

Thanks again! Logs attached.

On some of your channels it isn't reading the res from the source

2014-10-31 19:22:41.624 [DEBUG][7] Device reports resolution(2): 0x0 (fps:0) (aspect:0) (progressive:0) (videoIdCode:0)

Now that you are fixed res you should set the capture setting in config.xml for <ModeSD> the same as <Mode720>

Ok! Thanks mvallevand. First time into config.xml. I'm wondering, the <WaitLongerDelay>6500</WaitLongerDelay>. Is it measured in milliseconds? I'm thinking that increasing this amount may (or may not) allow the cable box enough time to switch channels and the capture to detect the resolution etc.

In the meantime I am running with the changes you suggested for today. I'll report back on the result. Smile

Thanks Again

Yes, it's milliseconds. Probably worth trying it set longer.

Well about 7 hrs of watching, flipping channels, recording etc. and so far not an issue has arisen. Seems mvallevands suggestion is working. Thanks again! Later tonight I will try setting mvallevands change back to the original settings and work with the WaitLongerDelay time just to see how it runs. Might be a combo of both or one or the other.

Hey sub,

So I made the suggested changes (mvallevand) and I increased the WaitLonger time to 13000. Things working better but after a few hours the problem does reoccur. Logs attached. Any ideas?

Those logs only show you watching Enders Game (.avi), and some exceptions from the TV Listings plugin. It doesn't show you watching live tv.
