Recording Import Not Working

I looked at my recordings and everything was missing that is located on my NAS machine. I am assuming they disappeared when I had the box off for some routine maintenance. So I tried restoring from a recent backup that I had made but nothing would import. I got a No Recordings Imported dialog. I scanned the logs and if I had to hazard a guess, I would say that it stopped the import process once it hit a recording that had since been deleted.

Two questions, how do I get three months worth of recordings imported back in and is there a way to stop Next PVR from deleting recordings that are missing automatically. I like that it does it but maybe a prompt confirming it first.

Thanks!

Two setting can help

This controls the delete

<AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>true</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>

If you nas is offline don't delete anything when true

<NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing>true</NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing>

They are both currently set to true. <NoRemoveWhenTreeMissing> sounds like the one I want to change, however, the way it reads to me is that it should not remove anything if it is set to true. Or should it be set to false to prevent deleting the recordings?

I've come up with a solution to get the recordings back in. Export the current recordings then restore an old database that had the recordings from the NAS then import the current recordings. But that doesn't solve the import stopping at the first file it doesn't find then bail if that is what's happening.

Looking at the code, it shouldn't stop if it finds a non existent recording. All it'll do is log a message like:

- not adding non-existant file: xxxxxxxxx

If the file does exist, and it's not already referenced in the database, then you'll get a message saying:

- adding: xxxxxxxxxx

Looking at the log you posted, it looks like it skipped two files that were non-existent, and didn't add any other files (because either your xml didn't reference any more files, or because they already existed in the database).

There was no unexpected importation errors shown in the logs, otherwise you'll get something like:

Unexpected error importing recordings: xxxxxxx x x x x xx x x

Ok, now I am confused, which is not that hard to do sometimes, they are back. Do you have to exit Next PVR then go back in to see the imported shows? I did not do that before "claiming" they did not import? It did say 0 files imported. Is there a situation that would cause a group to disappear and reappear, like the NAS going off line for an extended amount of time then back on again with both settings mentioned about set to True, which they are.

Thanks for the awesome DVR software.

I don't remember. Maybe, if you had already been to the Recordings screen.
