I can't get resume to work with my tv and I see your note about Resume for the Samsung F-series being unreliable. I take it this isn't something that can be fixed?

Perhaps sub could have NPVR Leave that part out. Then live streaming would also work.

That's assuming that is the reason for the problem, I just through the suggestion out there. I've tried to write a utility to do this in place to see but it is not trivial.

Of course this is a Samsung firmware issue so you can open a ticket with them.

Resume may work quite good with F-models too but you need to set seek hinting option ON.
It may also help to set “Auto skip to target” to 2 or 4 times.

If the file is bad skipping and resume may be less than satisfactory.

I have no plans of revisiting this ATM.

I guess that wouldn’t be possible, not in the streamer, unless a remux is done on-the-fly.
The streamer just passes on chunks of the file not able to deal with its contents.

When you successfully play a file, that wouldn’t play in my app, over UPnP do you know if it gets transcoded in any way or just streamed as is?

When I tried to play your test file on the Samsung over DLNA/UPnP using WMP as the streamer it wouldn’t play.

I would think pulling out the part that is not needed would be as easy as it was just pulling out one program from a mux. I could be wrong.
I could open a ticket with samsung and perhaps one with SiliconDust since decoded streams don't need CA included

UPnP/DNLA straight from the prime the stream is not transcoded, that would require one of the new transcoding models.
But the prime may be using DTCP-IP to get around the CA problem

When it comes to ATSC/QAM/DVB tuners, I get to choose which PIDs are included in the final file, and can filter out PIDs like those carrying CA info etc. Unfortunately when it comes to the HDHR Prime, we just get a copy of whatever device chose to send.

In Brainstormer's file, the CAT pid stream is not there to filter anyway, the PMT just indicates that it is there.

I see no simple solution to the in-progress recordings problem on F-models.
I think the only way is to tweak the streamer but that's subs department.

@sub: Anything you might be able to do on your end to get this working?

Regarding skipping, would it be possible to have one of the fast fwd/rwd options be 30s jump forward and 10s jump back or something similar? Also, would it be possible to tweak the multi-press/variable arrow skipping to react a little quicker when you stop pressing the arrow?
