I'm having some issues with my current TV-card and thinking of buying a HDHomerun 4DC (4 tuners, wow). But I wonder if nextpvr is capable of recording more than one channel using just one tuner of this device if the channels are on the same frequency. And I also wonder how much impact this device will have on my network when all tuners are in use. Can you tell me your experiences with these type of devices made by SiliconDust?

I have a 3 tuner HD Homerun Prime and it seems to work fine on my network with all 3 tuners in operation. There are a couple of switches between the HTPC and the tuner; they are 100MB home grade D-link. Nothing special. That said, I don't have clients so no experience with that load on the network.

The Prime is a cablecard device and cannot do multi-record of more than one stream on a frequency. I think there are quite a few users of these with NPVR here in the US.

NExtPVR can do multirecord (record all programs on the same frequency) with HDHR Clear QAM devices including the 4DC. For US based users, this includes the Primes if they are used as a ClearQAM tuner (without a CableCard).

It can also do multirecord with the ATSC tuner (over the air). (Of course, this is of limited use since those other "sub-channels" aren't typically what people want to record.)

I must be the exception since I record old TV shows from the sub channels all the time currently and am hoping to use this feature when I switch to NextPVR.
