Quick question hopefully...

I have an HD Homerun Dual that I use for ATSC via a local tower. Three days ago I ran into an issue where my tuner recognizes the radio freguency from the tower, the HD homerun config app shows strong signal (green color bar) as well as gives the virtual name of the channel and number however it says "(no data)" after the channel name.

My first thought is that the signal was bad, so I switched to the tuner on my tv, works perfect.

My second thought, since the channel is CBS, maybe they are encoding it was some sort of security function that the HDHR Dual isn't compatible with.

Third thought is that tower is having issues as my NBC shows up on the tuner but just provides black picture... TV tuner is the same way.

Anyway I can tell if the CBS broadcast is encoded or not?

Thanks in advance for any help!

If it is over the air broadcast, I can't imagine it is encoded. If the TV can display it, then the HD Homerun should be able to as well. I think it is more likely there is some sort of problem with the transmitter, but that doesn't explain why the TV can get CBS but the Homerun cannot, unless the transmitter problem is low power. I'm assuming you have tried to view the HDHR with the Silicon Dust viewer app to rule out an NPVR problem? Maybe try to view and record the channel in NPVR and post the logs.

thanks for the reply mikeh49

Yes the transmitter is low power 500W. I have been running this setup for about 1.5 years now and feel that I have it dialed in pretty well on my end. CBS does not come in on the HDhomerun Viewer app either... Most likely a transmitter issue (hopefully) I will sent them an email in the morning.

Sounds like a low power translator deal. We have those here operated by a community TV service that come and go. The PBS one was out for 10 days lately. TVs usually have better tuners that tuner cards, but have not heard that about the HDHR tuners.

I have two HDHR devices and both of them have much worse tuner sensitivity then my two internal ATI and Hauppauge tuners.

update! I sent an email to the tv company. Never heard back from them but all channels are working again so not sure what the deal is but guessing something tower related...

Thanks for the input!
