build 6 is out. No functional changes except the new RecorderHelper framework.

First of all many thanks for a great work. I am using GBPVR with ExternalRecorder to schedule network stream recordings made with VLC. So far I was using VLC "Append to File" option to record several sequences unattended. Then I can split the file if I want to keep some of the recordings...

I would like to know if it is possible to give different names to each recording eg insert the time in the filename.

Many thanks in advance.

PS the config I have:
<executable>C:\Program Files\VLC\vlc.exe</executable>
<recordingParameters>udpAngry:1234 Confusedout=#duplicate{dst=std{access=file,mux=ts,url="F:\test.mpg"}}</recordingParameters>

Why not use url="{filename}" and set your GB-PVR recording folder to f:\. That way GB-PVR does the heavy lifting for you by creating the unique filenames.

Great! Thank you. It worked. However, it writes into F:\Manual Recordings instead of the root of F:\. Not a big deal though. Good piece of software but the documentation is rather rudimentary as this is also the case of VLC.

Final thought is that the GBPVR after having finiched recording (closing vlc) still thinks that it is recording. Not a big deal either, a bit misleading in the beginning.

build 7 is out. It should fix the problem with recordings not registering as stopped.

shurik, btw: I'm not sure if you've tried playing back any of your recording in gb-pvr but if they're acting up, trying changing mux=ts to mux=ps. (GB-PVR prefers Program Stream's to Transport Streams.)

Hi Normanr

Thanks for the continued work on this plug - I just tried to download it at http://www.darkskies.za.net/~norman/dl/t...der.v7.zip, but I'm getting file not found from the http://www.darkskies.za.net server.

lol, I guess that's what I get for copy & pasting old posts. The url's should be fixed now.

It stops fine now. With respect to ts/ps issue, the ts switch result in a file that I can watch but not navigate using Zoomplayer and HDTVPump source filter. I can navigate it in VLC. I tested as per your suggestion ps switch and it indeed result in a file that I can navigate from inside Zoomplayer.
Thanks again,
shurik
PS I was thinking that GBPVR merely calls vlc as recorder by using your plugin and thus should not ahave any influence on the vlc output stream. It seems that I was wrong according to your post...

Cool, and thanks for testing and feedback Smile You should also be able to watch the recording in GB-PVR now, and GB-PVR provides a cool interface for accessing the recordings too. (You can even add pictures, etc - via XRecord I think). Also if your recording source provides a program guide of any sort, you could parse it into xmltv format and load it into GB-PVR, then you can view the guide in GB-PVR and record by program name, etc...
