No video or audio on playback after upgrade

I did a 1 min excerpt of a problem file using VideoRedo, and this file plays properly with both NPVR and WMP whereas the source file does not. I'm using HVR-1600 for recording from a CATV feed.

Comskip has also seemed unreliable since the upgrade.

oh, right, I totally forgot about this... since starting to experience the problem we're talking about, some recordings cause comskip to get stuck forever. Since I have code limiting the number of simultaneous comskips to no more than 3, it wouldn't take more than a day or two to get three stuck comskips and then all other shows would be stuck in parallelprocessing.bat waiting for the stuck ones to finish comskip. As a temporary work-around I added a command to postupdateepg.bat to kill all running comskip.exe's at 3omething in the morning. This solved the problem sufficiently that I forgot about it after that.

I wasn't a very good tester during pre-release this time... life has been an odd combination of hectic and numbing lately.

On May 10th, I re-installed both server and client on May 10th to includes fixes made by sub,
this morning, I got the same problem on a 720P channel, skipping started playback correctly.

This may not be much help but I've seen this several times too, but ONLY with my Silicon dust HDHomerun. the Hauppauge records fine during the same time period. I've also only seen this issue since the upgrade. ive attached a screenshot of my devices in case it makes any sense. I don't have any logs for this since it happened sunday night

It happens 3 times in the last days, twice on 720p channels, once on a 1080i channel.

If a recording stays in black for too long, I get a pop up that says the recording has played to completion and do I want to delete it. I get the problem more then once a day and only on new recordings. My wife just told me that as somebody else said that if you hit skip it will start playing.
