Comskip goes into infinite search on some files after upgrade to 3.4.8

Some shows seem to cause comskip to run forever after the NextPVR upgrade. The show "The Flash" on The CW is the latest to display this behavior. I'm attaching the comskip log file to see if it contains any useful info. I can't see any obvious errors, but then I'm also not sure what to look for. :o

I'm using a modified version of johnsonx42's PostProcessing.bat file so that only one instance of Comskip runs at a time, so as to not overwhelm the server. However, if one show gets stuck in this loop then none of the other shows from later than night get processed either. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm not sure how NextPVR could make comskip run forever. As long as PostProcessing.bat has been run, then NextPVR has lived up to it's end of the bargain. Anything you run in there is outside of NextPVR's control.

Are you running the free- or donators version of comskip? What version?

I don't know how NextPVR could be causing it either, but I noticed that johnsonx42 mentioned it in one of his posts as well. (Found it: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post487703) But it started happening on the very day that I upgraded NextPVR. Most shows still get comskipped just fine, just every now and then a comskip just keeps on running and running.

I'm using the public version 0.81.069 of comskip.

I use the donator version and it will loop on empty files like HDPVR recordings with my STD turned off. Not new in 3.4.8 though.

Martin, the files aren't empty. I can watch them just fine, it just requires manual jumps at commercial breaks. (Oh, the horror!)

gEd, I installed that patch right after it was released. I will watch closely to see if any new recordings have the problem.

I was seeing this behavior (running on) occasionally prior to the upgrade to 3.4.8, using comskip donators 81_070. It appeared to be related to garbage in the ts stream on OTA or cable re-broadcast OTA (CBS and NBC, IIRC). Now running donators 81_075, haven't seen it, but it's only been 2 weeks.

Sorry to hijack this older thread, but I've run into this problem quite a bit, and like you, it's completely related to empty files. Is there a way to stop this loop after it starts? It's not too big of a deal, as I can't delete a failed recording from a client and just have to go to the server, but the problem is that it still uses processor power from the batch file (15%+) on my server, and I worry during a vacation my computer will stop being able to record properly from those files running...

that'll kill any run-on comskips every morning after the EPG update.
