import mc2xml into next pvr

i successfully followed the directions in the following documentation: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?....EPGMC2XML. However when i try to import the TVGUIDE.xml file i get an error message saying "This xml file is not a device channel list previously created with the 'Export Channels' feature. No Channels imported." how do i import the TVGUIDE.xml file?

you're on the wrong screen. Channels, not Devices. (I'm assuming you are importing analog channels or digital channels captured with an HD-PVR or Colossus; if not then you shouldn't be importing anything)

What on the channels screen should I be clicking. I see buttons for: update EPG, empty EPG, details, groups, bulk map and delete.. I am trying to use the mc2xml schedule and set it up according to the directions given on the page I linked to. I was able to generate the TVGUIDE.xml file successfully. However I can't figure out how to import it. The directions given say to double click on the device name and use the import channel menu. When I double click on the device I just get a box with the option to scan for channels. However, in the devices section there is a button to import channels. I am using that button and trying to import the TVGUIDE.xml file as per the instructions. Unfortunately, I get the above error message. I would greatly appreciate further assistance on solving this issue.

It sounds like you're using a digital device (since you've got a 'scan' button). You need to do that scan on the Settings->Devices screen, so it can find the tuning information for your channels. After you've got done that, you should see your channels listed on the Settings->Channels screen. You can then double click a channel to configure when it gets it's EPG. After the first channel, you can continue to map the others the same way, or using the Bulk Map screen.
ie, You can't just import the channels from your xmltv file, since it doesn't have any information about how to tune your channels. You need to scan for your channels so NextPVR has this info.

I followed the above directions and nextPVR crashed when I clicked on update EPG.

I corrected the problem. I opened the xml file from the wrong location. the update EPG now works without the program crashing.
However, now the mapping of the channels is not happening correctly. Many of the same channels are given the same mapping even when I set up each channel by itself as supposed to using bulk mapping. I am getting the same programming information for different channels in the guide. Is there a way to map each channel with its correct map? Thanks for the help. |
