increase number of channels shown in the TV Guide initial view

Is there a way to increase the number of channels shown in the TV Guide initial view? Currently, it's only showing 8 channels at a time and I have to scroll down to see other channels. I only have 12 channels (OTA broadcast) so it would be nice to see the other channels at the same time. I'm using NextPVR 3.4.8 on Windows 8.1.

If NextPVR cannot do this, can the TV Listings plugin or another plugin do this?

There is no simple setting to change this, but you can do it by editing the "C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Skin\Default\TV Guide\Guide.xml" file.

thanks, worked like a charm. However, I can now see why you have elements set to specific locations like you did. I first changed the "visibleChannels" from 8 to 12. When I went to the TV Guide, the extra channels were now displaying, but the show detail section was overlayed the extra channels near the bottom.

After looking around the XML file, I realized I would need to move everything "up" before adjusting the "SelectedShowDetails" section. The 2nd set of numbers in the "location" attribute are the vertical location on the page. I moved up each section by lower the number by 6.

- changed Element name="GuideDateTime" location="1.55,12.36" to location="1.55,6.36"

- changed Element name="GuideTimeLine" location="17.77,12.36" to location="17.77,6.36"

- changed Element name="Guide" location="17.77,16.6" to location="17.77,10.6"

- changed Element name="Channels" location="1.55,16.6" to location="1.55,10.6"

Once I did this, I ended up with more negative space at the bottom for the "SelectedShowDetails" section.

- changed Element name="SelectedShowDetails" location="1.55,67.36" to location="1.55,86.36"

This change pushed the section farther down the page, below the 12th channel and still left enough space to display the show title and 2 lines of description.

I'm sure I probably messed up the display of something I'm not currently seeing, but since I just switched from using WMC backend last week, I probably won't figuring out what I'm messing up until I get more familiar with NextPVR.

Anyway, thanks for your help again. I was waiting to donate to see how NextPVR would work out, but went ahead and donated now since it's been working out so well and NextPVR support got back with me so quickly.

Just a note that you can also move quickly through the onscreen guide a page at a time by using the channel up/down button on your remote. When you need to scroll way up or down, it's much faster than just pressing the up and down arrows and watching the highlight move one line at a time.
