Troubles with mc2xml

I have downloaded and installed NextPVR 3.4.8 to replace Windows Media Center, as I have just updated to Windows 10 and found I no longer have that capability (thanks, Microsoft).

I consider myself to be fairly good at computers. I installed NPVR, and followed the instructions for installing and configuring mc2xml. The batch file creates an output TVGUIDE.xml file. I have mapped the tuner channels to the channels in the xml file. All seems to go well. But when I actually try to look at the guide in NPVR, it is filled with "(no show details)".

I have examined the NPVR.log file (attached), and it shows that channels were recognized, and show listings have been imported, but none of these shows appears in the guide.

It would appear that I am clearly missing a step, but I cannot figure out what it is. Can anybody give me a hint?

Thanks and regards,
Ron Keen

It's almost certainly a mc2xml's fault, since piles of other people have had this same problem with it the last few weeks. ie, if you look in the .xml file it created, you'll find the listings are for July.

mc2xml gets it's listings from Microsoft's WMC servers. Microsoft changed their EPG data provider a few weeks ago, and it broke the free version of mc2xml for pretty much everyone.

reports so far are that only the paid "donator" version of MC2XML works at this time. no idea if the free version will eventually be updated.

You really should just use Schedules Direct and be done with it. $25 a year for reliable, legal, actively supported EPG data.

(edit: it's not relevant this time since the problem has nothing to do with NextPVR, but in the future please post your entire logs folder. the log you posted shows absolutely nothing)

If the choice is between paying for "donationware" mc2xml to grab Rovi data and paying Schedules Direct for legitimate Zap2It data, consider that some people who are getting free Rovi data are nevertheless looking for ways to add Schedules Direct data to WMC because of quality issues with the new Rovi data: http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/view...f=9&t=8927

for the poor of us there is still zap2xml http://zap2xml.hosterbox.net/ that is working ok, taking data directly from zapit.com (same source of mc2xml before the switch to Rovi)
The only issue I have is mangled accents character (àéèôö etc) on some show from time to time. But I can live with that :-)

Thanks for all the feedback. I now have it working.

I had known about the change to the Microsoft guide service (had to reset that in Windows 7). I hadn't read the mc2xml web page to recognize that the update was still being debugged.

Sorry about the wrong log posting. I thought I had it saved correctly. If I need to post a log file again, I'll make sure and double-check it before posting.

Thanks to all who helped.

Regards,
Ron

25 a year for schedules direct is really nothing in the big scheme, it's accurate and works fabulously with the free version mc2xml.

NextPVR 3.4.8 and above have a native Schedules Direct grabber which uses our JSON service, which has a lot more data than what's in the XML data. If you're going to use Schedules Direct for your data, then don't bother using mc2xml as middleware because it just introduces another layer of things that can go wrong.
