I tried to follow BT Justice's (well written) but when I double-click on the updateepg.bat file all I get is a flash black (looks like the bat file is running and then nothing). I've attached screen shots to show how things are set up (I changed the bat file to a txt file so I could show how I've copied what is in the instructions into the bat file). Any help is much appreciated!

what are all the extra characters around the mc2xml command? are those single-quotes? there shouldn't be anything extra there, just:
Code:
mc2xml.exe -d 168 -o TVGUIDE.XML -s -6
server: NextPVR 5.0.7/Win10 2004/64-bit/AMD A6-7400k/hvr-2250 & hvr-1250/Winegard Flatwave antenna/Schedules Direct
main client: NextPVR 5.0.7 Desktop Client; LG 50UH5500 WebOS 3.0 TV

Thanks for that. I took out the quotes on the last line and got to the next screen where you input postal code (I'm in Canada) and CA for Canada. When I clicked on 'ok' I got the attached error (see attached png screenshot). What now ?

If I remember correctly, Microsoft has no guide listings for Canada, and Canadian mc2xml users must input a nearby U.S. zip code. Canadian member OTAjunkie strongly advocated another grabber: ZAP2XML (which however isn't covered in the NextPVR Wiki). There were several threads about this in December/January. Of course SchedulesDirect is another option.

How do I get it past my firewall? Given the post after yours, should I bother trying or simply try a different epg? Zeb, I do get an epg with Windows Media Center...

I'm running mc2xml with Windows Firewall. I don't recall having any firewall problems (although I might have forgotten after 5 months), nor can I find any sign of an added firewall rule for mc2xml. However johnsonx42 very likely knows more about TCP errors than I do (i.e. more than nothing). Assuming your Windows isn't very different from mine, open Control Panel and under Security look for "Allow a program through Windows Firewall." Open that, click "Add program," then "Browse" to the folder where mc2xml is located. Click on the file, then click "Open" and "OK." But if you're using an anti-virus firewall, then I 'm afraid I wouldn't know where to begin.

Before doing that, I suggest that you run mc2xml directly rather than by double-clicking UpdateEPG. The problem might still be with the UpdateEPG file rather than the firewall. You say you are getting guide data for WMC? When you ran UpdateEPG, after entering postal code did get the same choices you get when setting up WMC? My recollection of Canadian members using U.S. zip codes might have only been something they tried when Microsoft's EPG data was going haywire around New Years.

I used my Postal Code yesterday and it worked for me!

go into the control panel, find the firewall settings, go to the Exceptions tab, and add the mc2xml.exe program to the list.

Thanks everyone - that was exactly the problem (went into the Control Panel as described by Zeb above and followed his instructions). Continuing on with setup Smile

Went to the next step in the BTJustice instructions and tried to import the xml file and got an error. I've attached the three screen shots where I've followed the instructions for importing the epg xml file...
