I am new to NextPVR, and I would like to read up on Getting started with the NextPVR XBMC addon.

It is a short, closed thread with links to the information; howver, all of the links are broken or have redirects (i.e. http://www.xbmc.org to http://www.kodi.tv). Could an admin or moderator look into getting that sticky updated?

Specifically, I'm looking for:
  • How to get my Channel Lineup to show the correct channel numbers, and
  • How to determine what EPG Source a channel needs to be configured with.

For the EPG source, in the US your best option is Schedules Direct. It is not free, but $25/year with a free trial. Reliable and accurate data. It is supported natively in NPVR. Then you would select Schedules Direct in the EPG Source box and the lineup for your area/cableco in the next box. Other folks can help with channel numbers as it has been too long since I last had to do a setup.

basically any links starting with 'gbpvr.com' should be edited to be 'nextpvr.com' in all our links...
can't anyone do a search/replace on those on site? still lots of broken links around...

1. Go to antenna web.org or the like. Figure out what channels/antennas are by you. You may wind up with doubles if u have a omnidirectional antenna.

2.goto stationindex.com (or the like) and get the proper call signs, etc.

3. Figure out how you are going to pull your epg guide. Schedules direct is the simplest. This is where you source and map your epg data with the channels. I.e 4 NBC DALLAS is matched with source: schedules direct, MAPPING Schedules direct channel epg.

From there it's fairly intuitive. But ask again if you get stuck Smile

Decoder

After running a channel scan, all channels pulled up showing MPEG2.

In the "Settings > Decoders" tab, the MPEG2 Video decoder is disabled by default with my only option being Microsoft's DTV-DVD decoder. Once video got to playing, though, ffdshow appeared in the lineup.

Should I leave the MPEG2 decoder disabled or would that mean all of my channels would have no audio? Should I use Microsoft's decoder or should I grab a codec pack to get another one?

I was not able to get any audio to come through in the NextPVR interface using any of those options above. I am guessing it needs to work there before it will pass through to Kodi, right?

EPG

I was looking into how to get my EPG through TitanTV.com, but there is no info on their site. It just says that it "works with your PVR."

Using recommendations here, I looked at Schedules Direct. I see how to pay. That part seems easy. I did not see how to get it to work with NextPVR. Would that be emailed to me after paying?

Many of use SAF to install decoders (and other media software). SAF will configure NextPVR as part of the SAF installation process. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post414049

Send a forum private message to Hoborg and ask for the "unlocked" version (has additional decoders) (click on Hoborg's name in title of forum post).

Does this help with regard to Schedules Direct? http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...ulesDirect

This thread should be moved to the main forum the questions are about NextPVR. Kodi doesn't even use the decoders that are used by NextPVR

Are you saying all of this can be configured from within the Kodi interface?

I found out how to get some channels to work while in the main NextPVR GUI, then I tried to play something and no audio. If I don't need it for Kodi, that's all I need to know.

Kodi uses its own decoders. Kodi may be able to play video and audio even if decoders needed by NextPVR are not installed or configured and NextPVR cannot play.

But ... debugging current or future problems will be much easier if you get NextPVR working okay and then get Kodi working.

I have all the EPG filled in using Schedules Direct in NextPVR.

I flip over to Kodi and think I'm going to look to see what's on the tube. I pull up the guide, but on my 35 channels, only 2 have EPG data.

Any idea what is going on? Is this something every noob encounters?
