Part of my issues may be down to me using an old BlackGold.TV card which was created originally for Vista Smile Mind you the drivers still install and I've now managed to get the card working with Win 10 but I had to switch to a test version of MediaPortal to get the TV playback.

I just "upgraded" my Win 7 Ultimate media center system to Windows 10 with Next PVR. I installed N-PVR before I did the upgrade to see how well it worked - I'm very happy with the way it interfaces with Kodi and the way it handles scheduling, so I felt I could abandon WME and go with N-PVR for my recording needs.

My experience was much like that of the original poster on this thread - after the upgrade, when I tried to click the "Live TV" menu item, it hung for a few seconds and returned with the message "unable to communicate with recording service".

Now, I've heard that many drivers break on the upgrade, so I decided to download and install the latest Hauppauge drivers for my Win-TV-2250 dual tuner card. While at it, I also installed WinTV 8. After the driver upgrade and software installation, WinTV worked perfectly.

I went back into Next PVR and went to "settings" | "devices" and selected as many of the new devices installed by the WinTV drivers as I could find. This caused me to get video, but no sound. I then selected the ffdshow sound options and got sound, but with very little control over volume, etc.

So I'm still playing with it, but I think it'll work fine eventually - it's mostly a matter of selecting the proper devices in the "devices" settings window.

[edit] It would be nice if the Next PVR dev team would put a little effort into a "reset" button on the devices screen that would use the same algorithm used during installation to determine the devices most likely to work the best on your system.

Evidently, I am doing something wrong.

I installed npvr on my Windows 10 Pro 32 bit upgrade, it seems to work....except the channel scan works it picks up all of the channels but it does not populate the channel list. I even tried running as Administrator.

Just to check myself, I installed it on my Windows 7 Ultimate machine and everything worked.

Any help?

Please reboot to restart all NextPVR processes and to start new logs ... then repeat the channels scan and then post logs. Thanks.

So, no simple stupid mistake?

I'll do logs when I can.

Yeah, we'd need the logs. I'm sure the reason will be obvious when we take a look.

It might be a failed database update, which one other user had. He had to run "nextpvr.exe -updatedb" to fix it.

OK, here is the log.

Looks to me like SQLite is having a problem. I have no experience with it.

Yep, logs confirm it. Run "nextpvr.exe -updatedb" once and it'll fix it for you.

Code:
2015-09-01 18:10:08.144    [ERROR][1]    System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteException (0x80004005): SQL logic error or missing database
no such column: c.minor
that'd be the nextpvr.exe -updatedb command

(damn, I really should start checking whether sub is looking at the same thread or not before I post anything... he's always quicker than me.)

by the way, donbrew, when you installed NPVR 3.5.7. did you perchance get a message from your antivirus or anti-malware program saying it blocked NextPVR.exe or NRecord.exe? And then you told it to unblock it and figured all was fine at that point?
