Complete newbie and I am stuck

Hi all,

I am very new to this all and I am a complete newbie so I don't really have a clue about it all.

I have downloaded NextPVR this evening and can't get it to work. Having two main issues, firstly the Update EPG on the channel scan isn't updating it is just going round and round scanning freq and not getting anywhere. Though the EPG in the TV Guide is up to date, so I presume it is working kind of.

Secondly the live TV isn't working at all. It is coming up with "Unable to communicate with recording service". I have looked up and seen that a few others have had this problem, but I am confused with the explanations and fixes to this issue. Sorry I am a complete newbie on things and any help would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks.

In that case, the first thing you probably need to learn is how to post your logs - see sticky post here.

Then recreate one problem at a time, post your logs and describe what you were trying to do and when.

I'm sure the community will get you up and running in no time at all...

Thank you, that is much appreciated. I have attached the logs in zipped format. I have seen some people say that it is Windows Firewall causing it. I disabled it for these logs and got exactly the same errors with and without it on.

This seems to be the error:

That message says it's unable to connect to the recording service. Normally this is started automatically at the end of a scan.

I'd run "services.msc", which will show the Windows 'Services' control panel, then check that the NPVR Recording Service is started.
