I'm having the same issue on my PC client. 7-10s delay when entering the recordings screen then the same delay if moving from ready recordings to whats new and similar to pending but fast moving to the recurring recording screen. Also slow moving to conflicts screen even though there is nothing listed.
I set the above config settings to false and it was quicker by about 4s.
The delay on the server is about 1-2s for the same actions.
I also removed the link to recordings that I had on the nas but it made no difference.
I'm on a wireless network but only 2ft from the access point and playing recordings is fine although there is a very long delay 30s to starting. Could that indicate the network?
It also says on start up that it cant communicate with the server but once the message has gone it all seems to work.
BTW on the server setup what are the mac addresses for? should they be set to my client or is that automatic?

Cheers
Keith

If you also set <AutoRemoveMissingRecordings>false</AutoRemoveMissingRecordings> in your client config.xml, does it help?

This is for webclients, or MVP/NMT clients. It's not something you need to worry about.

I set that one as well. I did them both at the same time so not sure which had the biggest improvement.
I'll try on a wired network later. I'm guessing it is accessing the database a lot to get the recordings data as I can go to my videos and ripped dvds even on a different shared PC or NAS and they play really well.

So approximately how long is it taking with both those settings set? Approximately how many recordings do you have?

7-8s
about 1800 recording - spread over 2 local disks and 1 NAS - removing the NAS didn't change the delay but then I guess the database is still populated with the data.

This patch wont make any difference, but will add some logging. Reproduce the problem, then post the npvr.log.

Here is the log file.
I clicked on recordings which defaults to ready recordings then pressed the right cursor to go to new recordings then left to go back to ready recordings - each screen change took the same 7-8s.
Thanks for having a look. (I now being nagged to get of the PC ! back later)

Yep, it did take 8 seconds

Did you say this was on a client PC? How long is taking to load the recording list on your server? (you'll probably want to set those config.xml entries the same so we're not comparing apples to oranges).

Hi
Yep, this was on a wireless client - I will try wired later today. The server takes a couple of seconds to do the same.
The database is 12MB. Does the client load the whole file each time or just transfer query and result. The server takes 3 or 4 seconds to delete a recording not that that's a problem but might help.
I'll try the wire network at report back ...
