Comcast cable just mailed me explaining they are transitioning to MPEG4 in my area and Cablecard users should make sure their devices can handle MPEG4.

From what I've read, the Hdhomerun prime can handle this just fine.
Is this a non-event for NextPVR as well?

What would this mean to NextPVR for resources such as disk space and/or processing? Better?

Thanks!

Yes, NextPVR should be able to handle it. If you do have any problem, I'm sure it'll be a quick fix. Lets hope they don't move your 'copy-freely' channels to 'copy-once/copy-never' at the same time.

These H.264 channels have the prospect of providing a better picture, or allowing them to squeeze more channels into smaller space. You'll have to wait and see what they choose.

Playing H.264 recordings and live tv is a little harder on machines, but any modern machine should handle it fine.

Cool, thanks Sub.

Yeah, hope they don't muck with the copy flags. Not holding my breath though.
