Logs Great. But where to look?

If/when something goes wrong I like to check it out and look around for the answer. The place we all know is the logs. But just looking at the list there are 18 logs in the folder at this time. So how do you know which one(s) to look at? Going through each one can really get "involved."

I usually have mine sorted descending by date and start at the top. If you are still confused, restart the recording service, recreate the problem and look at the newest logs.

Very simplistically, if your problem is recording related, start with nrecord and/or ndigitalhost
If it's UI/Plugin related look at npvr
Client problems (server-side) should be in nrecord and/or mvp and/or web

You may find it useful to look at logs when you are not having problems to familiarise yourself with what gets logged in normal circumstances.

Thanks Alex, that is a good list of info I will keep for later use. I have looked over good logs in the past. Sure is a lot going on.
