Recently, I looked at my server's live TV buffer directory and noticed that there were many buffer files not deleted (~900 GByte worth), dating back to the installation of 3.5.7. Although, it was obvious that many of the buffer files were and are being deleted, some persist without being cleared. As an intermediate remedy, I have added some code to my postupdateEPG.bat, run nightly, to delete all *.ts files in the buffer directory, which, btw, is working for me.

My question: Would someone provide some insight as to why some files are being deleted, while others are not? Are there particular conditions where the buffer files would not be deleted?

Thanks

They should be being deleted.

If you just leave TV running (not changing channels for a first test), it should create a maximum of four files. When it needs to create a 5th file, it'll delete the oldest. Does that scenario work correctly for you?

That scenario seems to work, but what I am seeing is that those last four files are the ones that are persisting after exiting the client.

Attached is an example from today:

You mean a NextPVR client on another machine? or kodi, or some other client?

Sorry, I was not clear. I mean a NextPVR client on another machine (actually, in this case, the above example represents two different NPVR clients on two different machines).

Stumbled upon this problem last night myself. I was getting lockups on my Kodi client with NextPVR, so upon investigating the hard drive space where my recordings and buffer file live, it was maxed. I took a peak at the buffer file, and it was at 1.22TB of "stuff". Deleted all of the files in it, and my client went back to operating seamlessly.

I have also only noticed this behavior since 3.5.7 for what it's worth.
