Hi everyone!

I've started development on a new LCD plugin to support LCD Smartie which I personally prefer a lot over jaLCD. I do wonder if there is anyway to recieve more detailed info on what's happening in GbPVR than just the plain Events such as CurrentAudioTrack/Videotrack and more? Info such as where in the movie we are at the moment, whether the user has pressed PAUSE, PLAY, STOP or not, whether the system is recording or not and so on?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Gomer,

Was just wondering if you had made any progress on this one. I would be very interested in the results as I'd love to get my LCD working in GBPVR but it's not supported in JaLCD. A Smartie plugin would make my day! Big Grin

Hi there dazzy!

As you can see I haven't gotten much info at all about the issue but work has progressed slowly anyway. It would have gone a lot quicker if I would have been more satisfied with GBPVR but unfortunately there still are quite a few weird quirks in it that I don't like.

I have managed to get most of the stuff I want to be displayed but the one remaining issue that I find VERY annoying regards to TV viewing. It seems GBPVR only sends info of channel changing withing the TV-module if I turn off Live-TV-viewing. When I'm watching the MPEG2-stream everything is fine and dandy but as soon as I turn on the Live viewing in the config app (which is preferred since the delay in switching channels is unbearable otherwise) GBPVR doesn't notify my plugin of channel changes anymore...

If you're interested I guess I could find the latest version and upload it here sometime this evening...?

Cheers!

Hi Gomer!

Thanks for the update, it's great you're still around. Yes, I'd definately like a copy of the latest version. Very odd about the quirk regarding TV viewing. Maybe someone can shed a little light on this. I don't know if the JaLCD plugin has this issue as i'm unable to test it out.

I am working on finding a config that works well for me with live preview turned off. The response time has got much better in the latest release so maybe you should take another look. Once (or if!) i get this nailed then your plugin will be ideal!

Look forward to trying it out - I've been waiting for a smartie plugin for sooooo long.

Great work Gomer, thank you. Big Grin

OK, I've added these for the next build.

Excellent... I was still worrying that I was doing something wrong but I even tried a basic module that only logged the events it got and I still couldn't receive any channel changing events when using Preview mode Smile

Thanks Sub!

In the next build it'll give you the channel number and name.

Okay, sorry but I had to test it one more time (since I almost gave up I haven't ran it for a while), especially with the new version. So, here it is, a pre-pre-pre-beta version that I hope you enjoy. The installation is primitive but simple:

1. Copy SmartiePlugin.dll to the LCDSmartie plugin directory
2. Copy GbpvrSmartieProxy.dll to the GBPVR plugin directory
3. Start up the LCDSmartie configuration program. You can of course set it up anyway you like but my favorite settings are these(I have a 2 line, 20char matrix orbital LCD):

Screen 1, Line 1: $dll(SmartiePlugin,1,whatever,whatever) centered
Screen 1, Line 2: $dll(SmartiePlugin,2,whatever,whatever)

Screen 2, Line 1: $dll(SmartiePlugin,1,whatever,whatever) centered
Screen 2, Line 2: $dll(SmartiePlugin,3,whatever,whatever)

Screen 3, Line 1: $dll(SmartiePlugin,1,whatever,whatever) centered
Screen 3, Line 2: $dll(SmartiePlugin,4,whatever,whatever)

I have it set to display each screen for 20 seconds. Experiment for yourself if you're not happy with these settings, I think you'll notice pretty quickly which functions does what.

4. Run the GBPVR config program to let GBPVR start the plugin.

Note: You MIGHT run into trouble before running GBPVR the first time, due to the extremely primitive way my two dllConfused communicate at the moment... Not a neat solution but I'm at the moment two tired two fuzz with .NETConfused completely worthless IPC features Smile

Try it out and please report back any strange bugs or if you want different kind of displays. I wish I could say I will correct the bugs quickly but the truth is my schedule is extremely packed the next few weeks but I might have a go at it Wink I'd appreciate feedback anyway, for when I do pick up development of it again....

Cheerio!
