Can I remotely control NPVR to make a recording

I would like to be away from home for a week or so and be able to log into my NPVR and schedule a recording to be done while I am gone

can such a thing be done?

I use Teamviewer to login to my NPVR server when I'm away from home. This allows me to check/schedule recordings and do other stuff. This is probably the easiest way since you don't have to get involved with static IP addresses and poking holes in your router.

You can also setup NEWA for remote access.

I just checked and Teamviewer is $800 - a bit pricey for me

Ahh, the business version. Wow, corporate is thousands!

I have done the NEWA thing remotely (it's part of NPVR, not an add-on) but you do have to know your IP address and do port forwarding.
