My current server powers off the USB sockets when the server hibernates so don't get the problem any more!Lots of mainboard have a BIOS setting for this, I'v seen it on newer boards, it is sometimes called USB-charging or Offline charging. (the purpose is obviously that you should be able to charge devices from your computer even if it is not running)
