Comskip in NEXTPVR and X-NEWA in KODI?

I've just started to experiment with com skip and it has been configured and working on my windows 7 machine (running NextPVR 3.6.6) and very latest com skip d/l. When playing back on the 7 machine, using nextPVR playack, the commercials skip as expected.

Moving now to Kodi 15.1, I can not seem to get the commercials to skip using pvr.nextpvr (1.10.8) "recordings" for playback. In the directory (on the server) where the video is stored, I see the .edl and .txt files along with the .ts file. Is there something I must configure on the kodi side?

Interestingly, if I create a path to the directory on the server and use Kodi's Video/File to playback the video, the commercials do skip. Seems to be the same player??? but started from the video/file it works, started from tv/recordings does not....

Also, the com skip edl file is off compared to the .txt file. Why would that be? What I mean is that when played back on the server using Nextpvr the commercials are skipped at the right point, but when played back on Kodi, they are off by 7-8 seconds.

This sub-forum is about x-newa another Kodi addon, pvr.nextpvr doesn't support comskip because it streams recordings by http.

Sorry, didn't notice that this was a xnewa thread. But I appreciate the answer anyway. So if pvr.nextpvr does not support com skip, does xnewa work? I thought I had tried that add-on, but found it did not integrate into kodi's Live TV menu. Is that still the case?

It works if you set up playback via a share. It is primarily meant for those not using pvr.nextpvr but pkscout did write a nice skin that will integrate with pvr.nextpvr, you can either add a menu option for x-newa recording playback or replace the pvr.nextpvr recordings option.

No. X-newa is a separate program running inside Kodi much like most other add ons. However, I don't think that there would be any conflicts using the regular Npvr plugin with Live TV and using X-newa for your recordings. I alsothink that it's easier to schedule recordings in the regular Npvr ui as provided by X-newa since it has better support for series recordings.

I have installed XNewa, but it won't launch. It is compatible with Kodi15.1? What version of XNEWA should I see? I am seeing 2.4.7 is that correct? I have set the same host address as pvr.nextpvr and 0000 for pin. User/PW are nulled out. App won't launch, no errors.

XNEWA will not resolve hostname, had to insert the IP address of the NPVR server.

So.... now that I have xnewa working, it isn't skipping commercials. What streaming should it be set to? Any other setup stuff that needs to be set?

I wrotethat you needed to play from a share not stream. There is a read me first sticky in this sub-forum that shows how you might set p mapping from a client.

I have read all the posts in this forum regarding com skip including the sticky. So either I am not understanding something correctly or something else is still not set up right.

Attached is my log file.

I can see Kodi is reading the advanced setting.xml file, but don't see any substitutions happening later on. I also don't see any reference to opening the .edl file in this log.

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate any input at all.

Update, I modified the advanced settings.xml from to change the smb://192.168.3.114 to smb://JIM-AAAC and now skipping works. Very odd that the Netbios name works and the ip address does not.

Now I must figure out why the .edl files (not correct) are off from the .txt files (which are correct). The commercials times are about 10 seconds too early (start and end) on the EDL files.

Very odd, I haven't seen that before.

For the other time problem what is your tuner? Your file is h264 and the fps is odd too.

I know comskip doesn't work with my transcoding HDHR it is fine in raw mpeg2 mode. If I clean the ts file the edl works.

Yes it's strange and to make it even stranger, to xnewa app would not work when set to the netbos name and I had to use the ip address to get xnewa to connect to the npvr server. So to recap: app config works only with ip address where substitution only works with netbiks name.
