Ok, so I posted about my bad comskip experiences with the HDTC here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...Plus-H-264 SiliconDust never got back to me on their forum (no surprise). I don't consider this resolved and I think the SiliconDust transcoding is creating bad initial timelines.

You may be on to something with the framerate. It should be 29.97 according to the com skip logs.

When I calculated the frame to time (.txt file to .edl file) the conversions are correct using 29.97.

I have submitted this to the com skip forum and Erik is looking at this problem as well.

I believe the framerate problem is basically just that the Kodi can't read the data in the h/w mux used by SiliconDust and the "guess" is wrong. Other applications have problems seeking in these files too. If you check the other thread you would see a simple remux fixes it which is how I came to this conclusion. Comskip reads deeper and doesn't need to worry about ts wrapper issues

So, after discussing this with the Comskip man (Erik) I'm pretty inclined to think the issue is on the Kodi side (xnewa and nextpvr client).

I converted the txt files to edl (according to framerate) and they are identical in commercial start/end placement.

So why a constant offset of -10 seconds?

Need to keep digging to find the answer. Any suggestions on where to start?

BTW, my HDhomerun is configured to "Native" mode, so no transcoding.

Are you sure? I believe Kodi logs showed it as h264

The logs show this

12:09:25 T:123145306136576 NOTICE: CDVDVideoCodecFFmpeg::Open() Using codec: H.264 / AVC / MPEG-4 AVC / MPEG-4 part 10

Yes, I am sure it is set to native. When checking the hdtv-2us (HDHomeRun Extend) specs, I believe that H.264 is the native output.

I could try others to see if there is a difference.

BTW, is it normal that the timeline, when playing back the video, shows a shortened time? IE video is 32 mins, playback (with an EDL file present) shows 21 mins. I remove the EDL file and it shows 32 mins again.

I am testing all this with Kodi 15.1 running on my Macbook Pro. I can try it on the OpenELEC Kodi 15.2 version, but faster for reconfig and testing on the Mac.

Maybe native isn't the same as raw. In any case that timeline is normal if your edl file is set to cut not commercial skip In comskip.ini that is edl_skip_field=3 http://www.kaashoek.com/comskip/viewtopi...f=5&t=1381

You can edit those zeroes to 3 in an existing file.

Would that be the "0" which is the last character in the .edl file? If so, I have edited it to a 3 for testing. It changed the koi playback timeline, but not to the full 32 mins. Added about 1 min though.

Playback still off 10 seconds. Can't seem to find a way to get the Kodi playback right. Frustrating as this plays correctly on the host, using the nextpvr playback s/w.
