Thanks, saves me going anywhere down that path! (Unfortunate, but I'm not surprised, it was a long shot).
Any idea if anything like this is possible - watching something through Kodi while comskip is working in parallel? (presumably, parallelprocessing would need to add the file to the Kodi library ast NPRV is writing to it). Or have you heard if they've fixed Kodi to read .edl when streaming (recordings from NPVR via http)?
Thanks,
Sandy
As far has I know, Kodi still won't ask for comskip edl info while streaming over http, so not usuable from Kodi.

Comskip works great in Kodi just not in pvr.nextpvr but in relation to this thread there is no need to rename files to have them appear under recording in pvr.nextpvr. The limitation there is in-progress files don't play to the end.

x-newa in Kodi removes most of those problems, web client even gives the NextPVR meta UI if you want it.

Yeah, I know comskip works in Kodi. I'm pretty sure they still don't support it with http streams though right?

I've compiled in support but no it is not officially supported.

Hi Sub, Martin,
Indeed I've got NPVR, Comskip & Kodi working reasonably well together now - but only by adding the NPVR recordings directory to a Kodi library. The original problem on this thread was that (in one particular case) the file name from NPVR wasn't getting scraped into that library (issue seemed to be yyyymmdd vs. yyyy-mm-dd - all the rename options here fix that). But now I'm just wondering if I can do better! In particular watching while recording. The renames are all to do with scraping into a library, If I can play directly from NPVR, then that's not an issue (hence the .edl stream questions). Sounds like I need to take a look at x-newa.
Thanks for all the suggestions,
Sandy
P.S. I am still testing the new imagegrablite - but just copying the installer into C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR didn't help! (I've actually done the install now, so I'll let you know what happens tomorrow)

Kodi doesn't reload edl files so in-progress is not really going to work. You don't need to rename just to scan into Kodi if you create a matching nfo file, renaming gives you meta data.

Hi Martin,
Got the new imagegrablite installed (finally); it's looking different, but still doesn't seem to do anything in this particular case:

Don't worry about this for me (the rename .bat script earlier will work well enough). But if you think anyone else might be interested, I can try whatever you like.
Thanks,
Sandy

Hi Martin,
I was wondering if your code to allow Kodi to stream EDLs is available somewhere?
Thanks,
Sandy

Nope sorry. I think I tried to help someone find the code in other post, it shouldn't be too hard for you to find in the player logic

blaal02 Wrote:Hi,
I'm wondering if there's a way that I can change the name of the file that's generated for certain shows.
Where there's a proper season/episode - SnnEnn, everything is great. But when there isn't NPVR seems to use a yyyymmdd_hhmmssff suffix. E.g. I like to record the daily news, and I today I got:
NBC Nightly News_20150812_17301800.ts
Problem is that the TheTVDB scraper that Kodi uses doesn't seem to want to import that into its library. However, if the name could be made:
NBC Nightly News_2015-08-12_17301800.ts
Then everything looks like it works perfectly.
Is this something I can configure? Or would an option/code change be possible?

The last piece is that the "episode" needs to be in TheTVDB with the appropriate aired date - but that I can add.
I'm trying to add these to the library rather than streaming from NPVR because I'm also running comskip, and Kodi doesn't seem to look for the .edl files when streaming - unless you know different?

Thanks,
Sandy

The suggestion of renaming the file during PostProcessing should work fine, but if you don't want to rename the file you can force Kodi to scrape the original NPVR filename pattern by adding this to your advanced settings file(s) (works best with NFO files):

<tvshowmatching action="prepend">
<regexp bydate="true">_([0-9]{4})([0-9]{2})([0-9]{2})_[0-9]+\.ts</regexp>
</tvshowmatching>
