HDPVR device not allowing RCA Audio

I just installed NextPVR and I am happy except I have video no sound on live or recorded TV.

HDPVR device settings refuses to allow RCA back panel input. Instead it keeps falling back to SPDIF which is not available on the original HDPVR. The channel listing shows no audio source. See attached HDPVR Settings.jpg and Decoders.jpg and "logs-20160323-1035.zip"

Old video recordings from other sources play fine.

Any help would be appreciated.

Configuration changes aren't intuitive you need to change the input to RCA and then change all the already mapped channels with the right click mouse.

Note the original HDPVR allows AC3 but the piece of shit HDPVR 2 doesn't.

Thank You for your reply.

Unfortunately it is not that simple. If I switch the input from SPDIF to "RCA Back", and press OK, It reverts back to SPDIF.

Since this is an original HDPVR model 1212 I should not be presented with a choice for SPDID. My only audio input is RCA and it won't let me use it.

I suspect there is a problem in the XML configuration file but I do not have the knowledge to monkey around with it.

I'm pretty sure you're not completely understanding Martin's instructions. You need to set the input to "RCA Back" (don't press OK), then Right-Click your first channel. There will be an option there on the right-click menu to set the channels to the currently selected input options. You can also just delete the channels, and then make sure your input options are all set correctly before you import them again.

there's no digital optical out and input on back of yours? i have same model but mine does have optical inputs and outputs..[passthru]...
optical is nice cuz it lets you capture multi-channel audio, but analog is wayyyy faster on channel changes..

btw, you won't see anything in tuning string when it's set to analog in, it's the default so doesn't need to...only spdif shows itself in tuning string..
so if no audio shows in tuning string, it's set to analog input already..Smile

does yours look like picture in back?

Thanks johnsonx42 for your input.

I forgot to mention I had already tried to edit a single channel with RCA input just in case this would fix the problem and RCA audio still missing from channel detail

As suggested, I deleted all the channels and rebuilt them all with (RCA Back) showing.

Notice in the screen shot below that the audio source (RCA) is missing from all the channel detail lines so it is not surprising that there is no audio.

I stand corrected on my earlier comment about SPDIF input. My HDPVR has one. Perhaps I should buy an optical cable one and see if this fixes the problem.

Thanks,

James

zip and post your npvr.db3 file. I suspect we are chasing the wrong problem.

just as a sanity check, you might want to test another capture program from http://www.devnz.com/. any of the next 3 listed after NextPVR will work with your HD-PVR.

I think something else is going wrong. It seems to be set to the back

but for some reason it is switching to AC3 and not AAC

Maybe the STB needs to be configured to send PCM audio.

ah, yes, it should have occurred to me to look in the logs... I was just thinking to check the channel definitions directly in the database. well caught.

why do you think it should be switching to AAC though? The specs for the HDPVR says it encodes to AC3.

It does AC3 but only via SPDIF. The analog and HDMI ports are 2 channel AAC.
