Recording failed

2 weeks in a row I have had exactly the same thing happen.

On 28/03/2016 a recording was scheduled for 7:30 - 8:30pm and then another for 9:00-10:00pm both with 10 min pre-padding and 15 min post-padding.
The 7:30pm recording went perfectly but the 9:00pm recording did not occur.
It appears that my computer went to sleep after the 7:30pm recording and then tried to wake up a second later for the 9:00pm recording but failed to awaken properly.

Is there anything I can do to prevent this happening again.

increase your sleep timeout to something more reasonable like 15 minutes.

The duration is of no use if the sleep request falls in the black hole where sub doesn't prevent sleep. Perhaps when shows typically end on the hour and 1/2 hour 15 minutes would appear to work better.

yes, that's the longer version... a longer sleep timeout will avoid this particular failure. the root causes remain obvious deficiencies in windows sleep handling, which microsoft clearly has no desire to fix, and improved but still insufficient work-arounds to the issue in NextPVR.

Changing the sleep timeouts or lengthening the pre or post paddings while fix the issue for this particular set of recordings but not fix the problem in general.
It appears from the event viewer that there was a command to go to sleep and then immediately another one to wake up and going to sleep won the battle.
I know it would be difficult to implement logic for NPVR to look ahead and prevent sleep if another recording is coming up.
I have a sleep timeout of 10 mins and unattended sleep timeout of 5 mins.

I'll have to keep an eye on recording times and adjust the paddings if recordings are too close together but not close enough.
