Except I'm having some issues with the aspect ratios when playing back recordings through the Plex web app, and also the Plex for Android app. All of the content I record is in 16:9 but it's not getting played back like that, more like 4:3. Is there any way to change the aspect ratio in Plex? Any other ideas?

Many thanks in advance.

I dont remember seeing a setting in plex for aspect ratios. Maybe pull the nextpvr plex log, in ple media server\logs\pms plugin logs to get the stream that plex is calling nextpvr for (should start play video and be a live stream with a channel Id). And play that by itself in a browser. Check the aspect ratio

See the log attached. I'm not sure how to find the video stream.... I just tried to play "IPL Highlights" recorded on 10/4/16 and the aspect ratio was 4:3 in both Plex web app and Plex for Android app. Can you find this and try on your system?

Thanks in advance - this will be great if I can get it all working!

I've been working away at trying to get playback of NextPVR recordings via the channel working correctly with regards to the aspect ratio.... did some googling and turns out there is an issue with the HTML5 player when using the web app. So turned that off and now using Flash and it works a treat. The problem still exists in the Plex for Android app though - and I can't find anything about why this is happening. I've now got to the point where I can replicate it with a particular recording file working well on the web app but not working on Android on both my Galaxy S5 and Nexus 9.

Have you (or anybody) seen this behaviour before? When I play the recording through the Plex NextPVR channel on the Plex for Android app it shows up as 4:3 (ie. black bars left and right of screen), and gives the following via the information overlay:

Player: Default
Video: Transcode
Audio: Transcode
Size: 720 x 540
Transcode Reason: Container (mp2ts) not supported

This seems to mean that as my recordings are in MPEG2 transport stream format they are required to be transcoded for the Plex for android player to play correctly. Does this sound like normal behaviour? Any ideas to make this work?

Many thanks in advance.

Here's the video stream for whatever is playing on the channel: http://192.168.1.74:8090/live?recording=21974

Ahh you're pulling from a sky STB? Do you have anything on your DVB-T or DVB-S tuners? DO you have the same problem with those?

So basically for the format of the video...I don't set it at all (since we're h.264 based and a lot of other places are mpeg2). I have a number of people that use the android player successfully as there was a problem with the code that I had to fix for them to work...and since then I've not had any complaints.

Try the link inthe previous post and see what it looks like in your browser. If it's 4:3 it's something to do with the capture. If it's 16:9 it must be to do with the way it's getting into plex. But normally it's not something I set.

I'm pretty sure the only issues are with the analog recordings... which coincidentally are all in .m2ts format. I'll check tonight.

I've had a quick google as well and can't find any reference that the Plex for Android app plays the .m2ts format natively - hence the transcoding occurring and changing the aspect ratio.

I would suspect there are not many users recording analog streams that are then being ported to Plex for Android - might be a unique problem.

I'll try the stream link tonight and see what comes up.

Not sure what I can do if it proves that this is the problem... how would I record the analog input into an MP4 file in NextPVR? Hmmmm....

If you are capturing on that PVR150 then it will be 4:3
I had that with my HVR2250, but was able to change the header to 16:9 through the registry.,
Doesn't look like that is possible for the PVR150 unfortunately:

http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/forum/showthr...r-than-4-3

you could try recording a file on that PVR150, then edit the header so it's 16:9 and play that using the channel in android and see if it plays at the right aspect.

I just connected to my home server with the android client and used my 2250 to stream live tv from the skybox.
It also transcodes it, as it does not understand the format of the container.

Just tried from my HDPVR, and it produces the same format when being used with NextPVR.

Interesting. So how can I view content captured from the PVR150 at 16:9 through NextPVR? Is this scaling through the display (Panasonic TV)?

Are you changing the aspect to always be 16:9 (F7 to cycle) - or have you left it on that in the past?
