longer 'what's new' period

i would love it if the "what's new" limit had a higher limit...99 just isn't enough..
if i manually edt the config and give a higher number, it works fine...even on client...but i can no longer get into config as it errors out..
basically i just want the program to not balk on anything over 99, i understand leaving limit at 99 in the gui, and requiring users to manually adjust if they want anything more...
sound reasonable?
there are a couple of reasons i want/need this and it doesn't seem to slow anything down even set at over a year...
