Hi sub,

Could you please allow for more than the current 256 characters per program description in the EPG? My EPG source tends to have rather long descriptions, which are currently cut off when imported in GB-PVR.

I guess this would require some scrolling mechanism in the popup that appears when selecting a program in the EPG.

Any plans of doing something with additional EPG data like category, director and actor?

Regards,

Jan

If possible, why not have an auto-scroll function for the program description.
When you enter the popup window the description starts auto scrolling, when it reach the end it starts over.

MS Access which is used for the backend database limits us to 256 characters. The field would have to be divided.

Sub is focused on the backend engine and providing functionality that can be used by everyone.

I have written an executable that connects to zap2it and pulls down the additional EPG data like category, director and actor and stores it in another database.

If you want to see something with that data there is a thread in developers that you can post it to. Or just in wishlist.

If you are familiar with FastFind I am goig to let you search by category director and actor at some point.

i thought scroll wasnt possible due to the slow refresh rates on the MVP, thus the scrolling would look jerky on these devices. subs trying to make, well is making gbpvr run perfect or as well as a pc on the MVP/XCard/350, which has disadvantages/advantages i think this is just one of them. correct me if im wrong, im just sure that the MVP cant refresh enough to make scrolling look good.

I have scrolling working on my outlook pim plugin available on the wiki site. It works when you hit a key it scrolls down a line or up a line.

oh i thought that the MVP was limited thats why sub does a few things he does (i could be completely wrong, i *think* i read this somewhere), jorm you tried the scroll on a MVP ? also how well does it work? since the screen is only repainted about once every second. i was thinking about doing scrolling but thought it wouldnt work because of this.

Hi,

I didn't realize this is an MS Access limitation... Isn't that a little restrictive  [Image: rock.gif]

Anyway, on the scrolling issue: what I would be more than happy with is a simple page (or almost complete page to provide some sense of where you are) up and down scroll. It doesn't have to be a line-by-line thingy.

I did it on a mvp. The screen is only repainted once a second or when a keypress occurs. So the scrolling works when you click a button it refreshes. It looks fine.

I do not know why they have the 256 limit.

"Text" fields are limited to 255 characters. "Memo" fields, which are also text fields, can be up to 65,535 characters.
