Sometimes NPVR does not successfully record an episode, but thinks it has.
1. NPVR was only recording the first few seconds of shows. It turned out to be because HD was full due to lots of orphaned .ts files.
2. Often NPVR will think an episode has recorded but it really hasn't because of a bad signal from antenna.
I had the option "Avoid duplicate recordings where possible" selected in setup. It looks like NPVR keeps a database of all episodes recorded - even after deleting them. So you can't re-record an episode. Normally that is ok except in the case of not-recorded-but-NPVR-thinks-it's-recorded episodes. If you un-check this setting, you can re-record an episode but you might end up with multiple copies. For example, PBS shows the same episodes of my daughter's favorite shows in the mornings and afternoons.
So my question is: Is there a setting that will allow the recording of ANY episode EXCEPT if it exists on disk?
Thanks.
