EXACTLY how does that answer HELP me?

If I want to change to channel 32, I can type 32 and see it on the screen, then after a second or so it'll change channels. As well as the numbers, I also get OSD info at the bottom of the screen when the channel changes, showing the channel icon and the name/number of the channel, and the show that is currently airing.

Let me explain something, when I said I was/am a Newbie that meant to NPVR, I've been programming, building and maintaining Computers and Electronics for over 35 years. I'm not stupid. You didn't imply I was was, just making a point. My post said that there wasn't an OSD when I did exactly what you answered my question with.

I'm assuming it's me or the way I ask my questions. I tend to think ahead and sometimes assume I've already stated something I haven't, even so, why do I get answers like this? They do not offer me ( or anyone who might see this years later) ANY help, they do not point me in ANY direction where the info will/could be so I can ferret it out myself.

Stu was referring to the setting of the Video Renderer. If it is FSE (full screen exclusive), you will not get the OSD overlays. The renderer should be set to EVR for Win 7 and beyond.

Since your channel change scenario description was somewhat unclear, sub was presenting a well detailed scenario for your consideration. His point was that when doing what he described, he got what he described on the screen.

One of the prime things required for support is for you to upload your logs. Since you haven't done that there is a lot of guessing going on. You have to help us help you.

stustunz is simply making the point is that it is possible you have changed the default recommended EVR Video Renderer to FSE or another which doesn't support OSD output. Changing defaults is not something a newbie would do but it is possible.

He wasn't replying to you. He was just trying to give me a clue of what he thought might be causing your missing OSD. His reply was perfectly appropriate, and in no way rude, so don't be an ass and try to pull him up on it like this. We're all just trying to help - as Martin said, you havn't posted any logs or anything, so have left us guessing, and my reply was just trying to establish what exactly you're seeing/not seeing, and letting you know what you should be seeiing.

Reproduce the problem, and post the logs and we'll see if we can find the cause.

I only have one question left, as there isn't a way to import metadata from BTV to NPVR, is there a way to import from Sage - without Sage running? I've grabbed it from BTV, converted it to a Sage "format" (I'm not terribly familiar with Sage) and there I sit. I have 1 TB of recorded programs that I'd like to have the Metadata shown when I finally catch up.

I wrote the Sage import utility, and it does depend on Sage web services running. If you can send me a link a btv.xml file created by http://www.geektonic.com/2008/01/how-to-...-into.html I might be able to bring recording in directly. Hopefully they include the zap2it ID somewhere to avoid duplicates.

Note .mpg files can't fully be imported as recordings. You wonn't record duplicates but they won't play NextPVR client or the Kodi pvr.nextpvr addon. X-NEWA for Kodi can play them from shares.

THAT ... would be incredible. I had pulled that file this morning and was looking around to make sure no-one had done anything like this before I attempted it (after the wife's list).
