Has anyone else experienced short gaps in recorded programmes missing? In a few programmes we have been watching it skips maybe 10 seconds-a few minutes (hard to tell if you haven't watched it before) and continues on normally after that. I've noticed it a couple of times and unfortunately it can turn a drama into a thriller....

My recording computer uses a PVR350 and my playback is on the MediaMVP (latest GBPVR)

Any ideas?

Thanks
Chris

What are your recording settings at (ie. audio/video bit rate)? I have noticed on my machine (pvr 250) if i drop below 196 for audio the sound gets back.

Thanks Colin,

I use the default medium quality setting for the recordings and haven't changed this.

The problem is not audio, but 'chunks' of video and audio missing.

Thinking about this, I wonder if again this is a specific MVP issue, its a hard one to test without watching an entire movie again. I may have to wait until the next occurance and make a note of the time into the movie so I can retest on a PC.

Yes, I think you should try that.

Ok, have finally got another programme I was able to interrupt to track this down.

It appears to be in the recording as the skipping behaviour appears on both the MVP and the PC.

The behaviour appears to be Skip a few seconds, record a few seconds, Skip a few seconds, record a few seconds and then records returns to normal. From memory this appeared to be the issue previously.

This is a PVR350.

Can you see the same thing with this file in windows media player?

Is you machine sharing the Hauppauge PVR350 IRQ with any other device.

You were playing games or anythine else too taxing on the computer while the recording was in progress?

I may have tracked this down to a disk defragmenter taking place during the night.

The problems were overnight and there are no IRQ conflicts or other issues that I can see.

I've disabled my auto defragmentation and will post further if any other video has the same issues.

Chris
