All,

I am currently running Windows 7 on my home PC and NextPVR along with my Happauge 1212 and everything works amazingly well

My question is, I am going to finally take the jump to Windows 10 ( I know NextPVR works fine with Windows 10).

When it comes time to configure my Happauge unit, do I need ANY of the software that came with it? Or, will NextPVR install everything I need (Drivers included)?

Only reason i ask is, when I installed NextPVR originally , I already had the software installed that came with the unit, so, I never really found out if that software is needed or not.

Any info would be greatly appreciated Smile

You need the drivers installed for NextPVR to see the device.

If you intend to use the IR blaster on the device, then you'll also need the Hauppauge blaster software.

you will also probably need audio and video codecs. Like SAF or LAV. Microsoft locked down their codec(s) starting with Win 8.

Thanks for the tip. Is that something that is difficult to obtain ? Or is it just a google search ?

This device makes H.264, so you can just use the standard Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder that comes with windows for the video.

A lot of people use SAF, especially the "unlocked" version. See http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...light=SAF6

You just Google for LAV Filters. Note the LAV video codec(s) and NextPVR do not play well together for some users of NextPVR

Thanks so much

Am I opening myself up for more trouble by going to Windows 10? Or, should it be just as easy as before....my patience sometimes run short with these sorts of things.

Unless I am reading your reply wrong, you are stating that I really shouldn't have to go hunting down anything being I use the Happauge 1212, correct?

And, thank you again for your reply Smile

It shouldn't be a big deal setting it up on Win10. There is nothing more complicated there than Win7 etc.
