I have a problem in that comskip is marking the commercials 5 seconds before they start and 5 after they end. I cannot figure out where it is getting the five seconds from.

Please mail me a log file with verbose set to 10, and send it that same mail the real start/stop frame numbers of the commercials and I will have a look.
I also invite you to upload a typical .mpg file to my ftp server. (Could be a 400MByte fragment of show/commercial/show) pm me and I will send you the upload details.

Post your ini file as well. The problem might be in there.

I did a search but cant find. Comskip is close to perfect for me but I would like to have the commercial break start a couple seconds later. Sometimes it cuts off 1-2 seconds before going to break. Is there a way to add frames to the start? I thought I saw that, like a pararamter to add frames to what comship thinks is the start of the commercial...

Comskip sometimes cuts too early because it does not take the sound into account.
The new version (not yet released) uses the sound to discover more accurate the closing of the show. In the mean time you can use the padding parameter, the default is padding=0 meaning: don't do anything Whena commercial starts at framenumber "start" and ends at framenumber "end" then setting padding to anything other then 0 will imply the commercial cut to start at "start+padding" and the cut end to be at "end - padding" So if you want 2 seconds of commercial after and before the show set padding=60 ; for NTSC framerate

Awesome, that's exactly what I was looking for, it wasnt an issue really until I had Auto-skip with the new version. I love this software!! Keep up the great work!

Here are my ini and the cutlist with the correct cuts. My logfile is too large to post here.

Set padding to 0.
You can never have enough tuners!

I have the exact same problem with comskip crashing after upgrading from 0.69 to 0.71/72.
It happens only on certain files, but it happens always at the same "spot" - which is right after writing: ------------------- Initial Commercial List ------------------- (I have verbose=10) Btw - is it possible to write the comskip output to a log file? I tried: comskip.exe whatever.mpeg >comskip.log but it still writes to the screen. Thanks for a cool utility none-the-less..

Padding at 0 yields the same results.
